The way I look at it is, we're keeping the Economy going ;D ;)
Too right there. I hate to think what I spent on mine over 11 years. . Had an Xj6 for 50,000 miles and it only required consumables and my own petrol tanker

I had a standard one of those when I was younger.

I remember the winder wipers went slower as you went up hill.

I like the look of that one though! :y It will be interesting to see what it goes for.

I had an automatic Marina. I quite liked it. Cheap and reliable

So why not just upgrade yours.?

How many times do you "need" electric windows in the back?. Hardly never.

Cruise control. I couldn't be without. Great for giving your feet a rest and sticking to the speed limits on long journeys. There is a how to. Get one from a breaker or me when I scrap my red car.

Front fogs I would presume are easy to fit.

xenons? More trouble than they are worth.

self levelling suspension. More things to go wrong.

Wider tyres. Look good but I'm not convinced that most people would notice any improvement. Cost more to replace.

Trip computer. Nice thing to fiddle about with. Can that be retrofitted? Don't know.

Do you have variable delay windscreen wipe? Now that is a useful gizmo.

General Car Chat / Re: 5 P MORE on a litre of fuel
« on: 08 February 2011, 13:41:22 »
Quentin Wilson was on BBC news this a.m. about the no to fuel duty campaign. I think it makes sense if the government of the day stabilises the price of fuel and takes any extra money needed elsewhere.

Good on the Ozzies by the way. They are one off  taxing anyone earning more than 50k to pay for flood damage costs. (if you live in a flood affected area you don't pay the tax) What an innovative idea!!

Something to factor in to the equation.

At least you know your car, history, servicing.

If you are involved in a prang you have a lot of car around you compared with the inevitably smaller replacement.

There does come a time when you have to let go. Only you will know when that is!

Couple of issues with what is otherwise a sound idea.

1st How would you buy the car into your name. In Spain you have to fulfil a basket of criteria in order to legally purchase a car? Most revolve around you being a Spanish resident (i.e. you don't live in Britain)

2nd What would you do with the leftover detritus (after stripping and selling /using parts). No British Scrapyard should take a foreign reg car.

The answer would be to register it onto UK plates in your name AND then scrap it!!

I went mad with Waxoyl in the arches about 3 - 4 years ago

That explains it!    ;D

Obviously the meds are having little effect now?  Best book an appointment with a suitable medical proffesional.....   :y

ROFLOL

Fantastic. I went mad wth Waxoyl!

Webby. I couldn't see any rust to be treated. I took your photo and enlarged it on Photoshop. Only then could I see a tiny, tiny blemish. If you want to practice on real rust you can do mine. I think you can actually see into the back through one patch of real rust on the back door.  ;D ;D ;D

General Car Chat / Re: standard leather??
« on: 30 January 2011, 13:29:48 »
I got one of both. I agree the velour is far better than the leather. The heating elements don't seem to break as easily on the vel;our either.

looks as though the one with leather will be our main car. I am not looking forward to the summer heat here and leather!! As the heated seats don't work passengers have to use a blanket to insulate them from the cold of the seat. No such probs with velour.
