I see yet another American warship[a sister ship to the one not long ago in collision with a freighter/tanker]has collided with yet another freighter/tanker,near Singapore with a consequent loss of more American sailors lives.Can these Americans not drive boats?

Omega General Help / Tyre confusion

I'm after getting a pair of new tyres[no great rush at present as it's still not on the road]the tyres already on my car-F/L 3L Elite-are 205/45/ZR17 97W.According to Black Circles and two tyre suppliers I've spoken to the correct tyres are only 88W,whereas the handbook that comes with the car says the correct ones are 235/45/R1794W.So before I splash out on some El Cheapo ditchfinders what is the correct spec of tyre?

Saw a [rare silver] F/L estate being towed on a trailer by a 4x4 earlier.Obviously it was just a passing sighting,but it looked to be complete at least outwardly and in reasonable nick.However the 4x4 and trailer belong to one of the local banger racing crowd which proves nothing in and of itself but could very well mean the end of yet another Omega.

Saw one of these today.I don't know who makes them as Microcar was all it said on the bonnet badge.I realise these things have in all probability passed more safety tests than the Omega or my V70 ever were put through,but it's still a braver man than me that'd drive one about

As an aside to this there was a bloke on the radio yesterday-I don't know who he was or with what authority he spoke-who said classic cars should be consigned to museums and banned from the roads as they break down a lot and while littering the roadside in this fashion cause health and safety problems.Classic trains were lumped into a similar category i.e. breaking down,causing H&S issues,classic boats/ships the same.Classic aircraft-Lancaster,Spitfire and Hurricane were named but all classic aircraft were included-should not be allowed to fly as they don't have the correct and appropriate safety seats All causing H&S issues
