Omega General Help / Leather handbrake gaiter - Any recommendations ?

Looking to replace leather handbrake gaiter as looking a bit worn on the end

Any recommended suppliers ? (other than flea-bay as I am a little hesitant ordering from there if they are rubbish quality $:-\$ )

Assume Genuine GM can't be sourced or vastly expensive ?

Assume MFL same as FL.

Read a few posts of unhappy people with poor quality leather ones.

Omega Gallery / My Mini Face Lift 2.5 CDX post rust bits sorted and a polish & wax - CLEAN NOW !

Hi all,

Below are a few pics of my mini face lift 2.5 V6 CDX Omega.

I noticed a bit of bubbling under the bottom lip of both rear wheel arches, and bottom of rear passenger door had a corner of paint come away and was exposing a rusty bit

I wanted to catch the rot early so I bit the bullet and took her in for the full treatment where they did both rear wheel arches, sills off and did them, bottom of all doors and wax oiled wheel arches.

She was not quite to my "standard"

so I have now treated her to a fresh wax and polish. Also did the headlights whilst I was there

I have had her from new and currently just about to clock 59k mls on the clock !!

Not bad for 14 year old mota !

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Fuse for Puddle Lights and Courtesy lights

Hi there.

Finally booked car in for rust bits on bottom of rear door and catch the start of rear wheel arch lips.

I am looking to temp disable rear Puddle Lights and Courtesy lights when in.

What fuse would it be to pull ? I remember blowing one years ago when I change the drivers puddle light, but cant recall which fuse it was in the fusebox by drivers side

Omega General Help / Front Fog - Mini Facelift - Easy to replace ????

Hi,

I noticed a crack in my front N/S Fog light

Are they simple to change on the Mini Facelift ? I have a V plate 2.5 V6 CDX.

Looks like there are three bolts but are they accessible. Don't really want to remove the bumper if help it

Omega General Help / Strange values on Central Info Display !!!

Hi all,

I was trying to clear the "Check" on the central display (Washer bottle empty !!) and found if pressed both buttons in for a few seconds the following was displayed in the top section.

What on earth does it mean ? Miles left till it explodes

Never seen this display before

"Check" was still there dispite full washer bottle

(new switch ordered and connected shorted out for now to clear the "Check"

Damned washer bottle sensor has always been "iffy" since I have had the car from new. Always seemed to tell me "Washer Fluid" just as the last dribble comes out and the wipers scrape accros a now dry windscreen

Omega General Help / Air Con Low Pressure Valve - Part Number ??????

Hi,

Just been to Nigel Langs and A/C now ICE COLD

(Just ready for the winter

)

We replaced the High Pressure valve (courtesy of the much valued guide on here

) as this I believed was why the pressure was lost since vac out and re-gas a few months ago (I even saw bubbles when cap undone) NO leaks elsewhere when coupled to the A/C test kit.

It was noticed however that the Low Pressure valve (one by the bulkhead at back of engine bay on the top) did have a "small" bubble when all regas pipes removed.

I am hoping that the valve cap maybe enough just to stop any small release (may have a chance as its on the Low Pressure side ?)

However, as a preemptive strike does anybody know the Part number for the Low Pressure valve

?

I believe it is a difference part to the HP Valve with the LP (Low Pressure) one more of a "Car Valve" arrangement with what appears the only bit to change the valve core in the middle

? (like on car Schrader valve).

Omega General Help / Wheeze from A/C behind middle front vents and no chill !

Hi,

In had my a/c vacuumed out, refilled (950 GM's) and was running great.

I was informed that there were no leaks when it was tested (1st regas in 14 years as had car from new

) so I was initially chuffed.

It's been a months or two now and it is definitely not chilling.

A/C compressor is turning but there is what can only be described as a "wheeeze" like sound from behind the front middle face vents.

I also notice that there is definite lack of water / puddle on floor from compressor I.e NONE.

Any thoughts ?

I had all done a Nigel Lang's when I had geo set up so I may give them a try again as I was otherwise happy with them.

A friend of mine has a Bluetooth ODP scanner which can then be used with tablet device and various Apps to explore various engine reading live. Even claims to log mpg, power and all other wonders !! (I have my doubt's !)

I may borrow it and have a play but before I do is there a particula flavour I need as have read various things on the compatibility.

I have a 2.5V6 CDX mini face lift (one of last ones on a V plate

). My mate uses scanning tool on an Toyota Avensis 54 plate diesel !

56k on clock.

Just had 4 new boots on (Uniroyal Rainsport 3's

) and full Geo Setup from Nigel Langs and on rails now - better now then when came out the factory and goes round corners like she is on rails !!

Omega General Help / Hazy headlight. facelift 2.2. best way to fix ?????

I was at my Dads today an noticed the headlights on his facelift Desmond (2.2 CD petrol, with cruise control fitted

) were very opaque/ hazy.

I recall reading that they can be polished to get them back to something better ?

What is the best stuff to use to get them back again ?

Not really noticed this issue on my mini-facelift, but headlights "glass" seems plastic/acrylic on my dads facelift and convinced mine are glass on my mini-facelift 2.5 V6 ?

Omega General Help / is the mini facelift door trim transferable to facelift door ?

Hi,

I am looking for a good rear passenger drivers side door for mini facelift omega. Noticed rust on bottom corner which looks common problem

I see there are a few facelift doors about, hopefully same colour (Velvet green I think)

Given my internal and external trim is immaculate on the one I have

I had a brainwave that I could get a decent facelift door and transfer all internal and external trim, locks, central locking etc. Hopefully window tint will match ?

Would this work ? Or are the fixing holes, clip locations etc difference on a skeleton facelift door compared to mini facelift

?

Omega General Help / Full Geometry setup done - Nigel Langs Bolton - WOW WHAT A DIFFERENCE

Hi,

I said I would report back after full Geo setup and thought I would post the before and after

Well, after 2 new wishbones (fitted by Daz - Cheers

) I went to Nigel Langs today for 4 new tyres (Uniroyal Rainsport 3's), Geometry setup and A/C vac and refill/re-gas (A/C had 50gms refrigerant left from the 950 when car new !!! No leaks

so filled back up again and froze to death on way home

).

I would HIGHLY recommend the place. Professional, Pete CERTAINLY knows his stuff and car totally transformed - like NEW again

Would trust them with any car of mine and my steering wheel is now FINALLY STRAIGHT

Car was way out, and crabbing a little.

The two new front Trackrods I bought were not needed, so I have a pair going to highest bidder

Car handles great now, no wheel shake, no feeling like would catapult me off road

and straight as die - I even ventured above 69mph (a tad

Omega General Help / which track rod ends ? chassis number dependent ?

I am looking to get a new set of track rods before I give the car full goemetry setup in couple weeks (just in case original rods don't move

)

I see from the allgermanparts website that there appears to be different ones for different chassis ?

I have a V plate mini facelift 2.5 V6 Saloon.

Am I correct in assuming that I need the ones claiming up to chassis X1999999 ( http://www.allgermanparts.co.uk/steering-and-suspension/steering-parts/febi-bilstein-inner-tie-rod-lh-01852-106145?group=89 )

Any makes to avoid

The Febi Bilstein ones appear good value ?

Its been a while, but I recall the chassis number was behind a flap somewhere ?

Anybody know any decent places on the Wirral or Chester area ?

I am off to Nigel Lang's in few weeks for full Geometry setup and 4 new boots, so anywhere decent in Bolton area too I guess whilst I am there !
