Yes, it will pass MOT, no problems....

You can even have the EML on and it will still pass....as long as emissions are ok  :y

Cheers for that that would pass MOT.  I was concerned so pressure off a little not to change immediately.

Emissions OK, but will give it an Italian Tune up on the way to MOT  ;D

Fingers crossed motor not fail in the meantime  >:(

Read the fault codes, this is nearly always caused by water ingress in the steering angle sensor, a 5 minute job :y

Is the Steering angle sensor in steering column ??

It's in the rack usually where the column joins it on most vw's :y

I shall try to have a look  :( but looks pretty inaccessible down there.  Subframe needs to be lowered to remove rack.

Just crawled under there and NO CHANCE of access.  Need to remove most the underneath (subframe and other major bits !!) to even get anywhere near the plugs and motor - can't even see them and I have a picture of a removed one to help !!!

And it started raining in me  :'(

Its been to a VW specialist and diagnosis is new rack.

Error is the " Steering Torque Sensor (G269): Implausible Signal" error  :'(

If was 5 min job they would have sorted (I would have hoped !!!  :D)

Assume that Orange light would fail MOT ?????????? (Even though not red and steering OK at present !)

Sorry if this has been discussed before. :o

Wife has Touran 2.0TDI.  The Power Steering System warning light has come on.  It is 'thankfully' Orange and not the Red colour it could be.

Orange indicates take care and get it looked at.  Red suggests stop and don't drive.

I believe this is the early symptom as the dreaded Power Steering rack failure (as its electric assist  >:()

Steering does not feel any different so the motor is working and not failed (yet  :()

MOT is due in a months time.  As the orange light is now on, I ask myself will it pass the upcoming MOT ?

I recall a post on here not so long ago with a link as where to get the anti rattle springs from.

I thought there were two different sizes depending on Caliper or Disc ?

I am sure somebody will provide divine guidance to the link shortly  :y .................

If you keep the bottoms of the doors cleaned and polished then no reason to rust

Yep, bottom banana shaped rubber on door at bottom always seems to atract grit and dirt.  Always keep clean and dry  :y

Crap maintenance

Crap in terms of what ?

Mine started to go on the usual spot and just under rear wheel arches and mine is maintained and looked after  :) (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=129223.0) washed, dried and regularly autoglym'ed. Also kept in heated garage for last 7 years and I have had her form 6 months old  :y

Not sure what else there is to maintain on a door  :)

Luck of the draw, or luck of the door I presume  ;D (or perhaps too much cleaning !)

Quite entertaining too, just pop it in third and keep your boot in ;D

Last time I did that in anger the old Horse Hair exhaust was following me, again :D
