General Discussion Area / PC Advice - DDR5 Timeing
« on: 05 November 2023, 11:03:10 »
Some one paid me back a debt thats been outstanding for a few years so am considering a new PC

I have decided on the main components (Motherboard & CPU)
It will require DDR5 but on reading up it seems people are haveing issues with thier choice in RAM and (Motherboard choice).

I seem to have settled with the G-skill brand over the years without issue.

Looking at the the manual the G-Skill timeings of the modules tested are.

30-36-36-89
30-40-40-96
30-40-40-96
30-40-40-96
30-40-40-96
30-40-40-96
30-40-40-96
32-39-39-102
34-45-45-108
34-46-46-108
36-36-36-83
36-36-36-96
36-46-46-115
40-48-48-128

Am I correct in thinking the lower numbers the better?

TIA

BBC :-X

Programs showing the change to HD (RED BANNER) across the bottom of the screen .

Dont mind it being shown at the start of a program - but to have it displayed thoughout is really annoying.

People who watch the regular programs will have got the message by now.

Dont know if it can be turned off - I record everthing so its all ready there and not an option for me to remove it. :-\

I saw a post on social media regards an ISA Sound Blaster card (Boxed etc) and the person asking for a price.

In the US they are telling him to get $200/300 for it, with a few people then saying they aveage $70 minimum

Checking out the UK most are on offer for around £15 and no sign of them even getting sold.

Have I missed something.

I have a Dreamcast, PS One PS2 XBox, wonder if there is any value now, wait for them to become a vintage item or set up an account to sell in the US.

I might be sat on a Gold mine with all the stuff I have tucked away. ::)

General Discussion Area / TV Adds - Charities
« on: 17 October 2023, 19:12:50 »
Please Delete This Thread if I am in the wrong with posting it.

I am all for charities and what they offer, Over the years I have volountered and helped out at 3 different ones.

Some of the charites pull on the heart strings. Blind dogs etc

Some adds are getting out of hand (My personal oppinion)

People offer to help for free, people helping the RNLI and local Fire Services make thier selves avalable 24/7 and risk thier own lives in the process.

But what gets to me is them asking for specific ammounts each month, some offer feedback from the children and post cards about how the animals are doing.  Sorry, Spend all the money looking after them instead.  If I give money I prefer to pay what I want and when I want but want it to go to the ones that the charity is actually for.

When you hear some of the CEO's are getting upwards of £150K P.A. thats a heck of a lot of monthly donations before donations get to the intended.

When I was 16 there was an article in the paper that 83% of donations were towards "Overheards" at Dr Banardoes.

Of the medication I am on, one of the items was unavailable through out the country last December - as a result I was asked to ring round and source some for myself. :-X (Only manged to get 1 that month and nothing since)

Last month there is a shortage of something else, same again was asked to source my own.  Now this month there is no supply still, even though a nurse has told me that there should be enough for current users but none for future users.

This month its pain killers, no capsules available, offered tablets but for some season they dont work for me, they have the effevessent version that work better for me but I have to see a doctor for a new prescription  for these but no problem for the tablets. :-\

General Car Chat / If you Bought a New Car? What Would You Choose?

The Omega wont last for ever :-\

I liked the Senater but never owned one but drove one of the latest 24v from new on a weekly basis.

I had a manual Carlton 2.0 and 2.0 Diplomat auto, a tad smaller inside and less comfortable than the Senator.

Since then (and still own all 3) 2.5 auto, 3.0 Elie and 2.2 Auto Omegas (All petrol) all a tad smaller inside than the Carltons.

I like the idea of the PHEV in principle but never driven one or know anyone to talk about owning one.  No way I fancy an EV

I want the comfort and size of the Senator.

BMW 7 series. Merc S class (403MPG) all look nice but stupidly priced compared to my income :-\

The BMW 1 Series and some of the Mercs look interesting MPG (Quoted figure of 470MPG)

Peugot offer a 300BHP + 308SW Estate that I like the look of but was put off after watching a youtube video of the steering wheel shape and complaing about seeing the dash.  Also looking at the seats they wont be very comfortable.

I want comfort, economy, tech is good but would be exspensive when it screws up.

I just woke up and the dream came to end end, I only won £30 on the lottery, So the choice is now, Corgi, Hot Wheels. Dinky or Matchbox.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Central Locking
« on: 14 October 2023, 01:36:25 »
After a flat battery the Central Locking seems to be doing random things.

So basicaly, doors might unlock all or just one lock,  if when locked they pop open again, Not the same every time.

I know there are resetting options for the windows, the sunroof etc, is there a reset for the Central locking.?

Trying to find friends and family from years back.

I used 192 in 2010 and paid for the basic service and got a few searches free. :y

Just checked the cost and its not changed much but no freebies being offered at the moment. :-\

Googled for other options and some offering free searches - but not free at all.

Dont mind paying but not silly money.  Any suggestions.  (Must include Scotland as I have  possibly still got relatives up there)
