What is the forgotten supercar pictured in my avatar?

The correct answer wins an all expenses paid trip to St Lucia, for you and your lady. Honest. :y

General Car Chat / Air-Con temperature.
« on: 01 August 2013, 20:13:24 »
With the air-con switched to LO, I'm getting a temperature of 5c at the central vents ( after about 10 minutes). I'm using an old wooden thermometer.

Is this about right?.....it feels pretty cold on my hand.

I seem to recall that last year I had a temperature of 3-4c at the vents.

Regas?

Does anyone watch this?

For some strange reason I find it compelling viewing.

Two of the guys look remarkably like  the 'bouncers' who kicked the crap out of me outside a Torquay nightclub in 1978. :'(

Not for the first time Mrs Opti isn't sleeping too well. She refuses to take tablets be they chemical or herbal.

I seem to recall that a forum member (was it Nickbat?) posted a soothing piece of music that consisted of a creaking galleon, lapping waves, the distant sound of seagulls, a tinkling ships bell, etc..etc....

I've been looking but I can't find it ( or similar) anywhere.

The piece was most relaxing and may help poor old Mrs Opti to get a good nights rest. :y

General Discussion Area / Lawnmower plug?
« on: 27 July 2013, 19:42:53 »
I've just taken the spark plug out of my petrol mower........it's a TORCH F6RTC long reach plug.

I don't have a spare.

Any idea what the equivalent Champion or NGK would be?

Thanks, chaps. :y

General Car Chat / Anti-freeze. Is this suitable?
« on: 25 July 2013, 20:01:18 »
Without TC, this is the cheapest I can find. It works out at £13 for each 5 litre can.

I'm guessing it's the real stuff.

General Car Chat / M.O.T Query?
« on: 19 July 2013, 18:38:03 »
The family Corsa had it's M.O.T issued on the 26th July 2012. It expires on the 16th August 2013.

I'm taking it to the M.O.T centre  on the 24th July. My question is this......

Provided the car is healthy enough for a pass, will the new certificate run till 25th July 2014 or 15th August 2014?

It goes up and down perfectly using the switches on the drivers door. It will also close using the passenger door switch (go up), but for some reason will not open (go down). :-\

Any ideas chaps? :y ....Fuse perhaps?

The spirit of OOF is alive and well. :y

This morning I received a superbly packaged Autel Maxiscan MS509 (by DHL 24 hour courier) from forum member Mantahatch.

It appears to have been barely used and is in excellent condition. It came complete with lead, instruction manual, CD, and even it's original zip up case........plus what looks like a brand new duracell battery. :y

Manta has clearly gone to a lot of trouble to send this to me, obviously putting himself out for a member of OOF he hasn't even met. :y........and all for no personal gain. :y

As I say, the spirit of OOF lives on.

Thanks, Mr mantahatch. :y

Even a cretin such as myself has a rudimentary understanding of the 4 stroke cycle

1. Induction

2. Compression

3. Power

4. Exhaust

.......or suck.....squeeze.....bang ...and blow for the sniggering schoolboys amongst us.... :y :D

But what of the 2 stroke cycle? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I'm on the brink of buying one of these jobbies from Amazon direct for £31.50 inc P+P.

However, it seems that the market is flooded with fakes that don't work as they should.

My question is this ......how can I tell a fake from the genuine item before putting my hand in my pocket?

Are there any obvious signs?.

General Discussion Area / Fresh fish
« on: 03 July 2013, 11:27:49 »
I've been informed that 'fresh fish' can be up to seven days old before it is sold. :-\ :-\

So fish that is immediately frozen (in house) aboard the fishing vessel that caught it, is fresher than fresh fish that is simply kept 'chilled' until it reaches land, sometimes days later. Then begins the long trip to the fishmonger or supermarket. :(

Sorry admins.........Mr thick bastard has posted in the wrong place. :-[ :-[

It's a fact. In the U.K in 2013 the poorest people in society are also the people who are most likely to be obese, or at least overweight. Why?

Compare this with victorian England, where the wealthy were most prone to being overweight, and many of the poorest in society were skinny and emaciated.......and died at an early age.

Take the U.S. The yanks really know how to produce obese people......The fat people over there put our 'skinny fatties to shame'  ::) ::) ::)But again, as with this country, the majority of overweight people come from the poorest sections of society. Why?
