I've just driven her around for twenty minutes and she has decided to behave perfectly again.

Smooth changes, all gears available in both manual and auto. She is 17 years old though and I am concerned her teenage episode' may be a portent of things to come.

I'll check out the cost of an ATF change. Local garage man charges £60 p/h INCLUSIVE OF VAT.
An ATF change should sort it properly.  :y

Hopefully. Auto box cars are generally reliable.

My first car, built by the communists at BL, had lost 2 of its 4 forward gears by 50,000 miles.

Thrash the balls of it in first then straight into top (4th) and hope for the best. ;D

It appears the auto box takes around 6 pints of ATF.

I thought the ATF was supposed to last the life of the car without the need to change it.

The very first thing to try when an auto box starts playing up is to top up the ATF if necessary.

Thank you, young man. :-* :-* :-*

Has the ATF ever been changed ? My mates Audi had the same problem the first thing his mechanic did was drain & renew the fluid solved it straight away.

I've had the car since 2015 and ATF has not been changed by me. Mileage currently 96000. A quick Google seems to suggest the ATF fill point is under the battery box. The video I watched was related to the Saab 2.8 V6 which shares the same lump.

I think some vectra c/signum had the transmission oil cooler running through the main radiator. Maybe worth checking for oil in the coolant and vice versa.

Should be obvious when the transmission oil is changed.

That sounds Omegaesque to me......does the same apply to the Signum?

It's easy to tell you are an old man.......you forgot to mention sex. >:D
I'm surprised you can still get it up at your age. Or is that all in your head?  ;D

Morning glory like an iron girder as you would expect for a man in his thirties.  :)

People often say us Yorkshire folk[yes I know I live in Lincolnshire at present but I was born in the West Riding of Yorkshire]are tight. I'd say we're not tight at all just careful wi us brass ::)

Careful with brass is a Yorkshire euphemism for 'tight as a ducks arse' >:D

Well I like it!  :y

I wonder what the depreciation is like though?  :-\    :o   ;D

If it is extremely rare, as I imagine it will be, it may go up in value.

Are you now ready to put your order in? ::) ::)
If? How about one of one?

It's a bit tacky.

It might suit a wealthy black pimp with a stable of white girls to farm out. ::)
