Cars for Sale & wanted / 2.5 v6 cd 1998 for sale or breaking
« on: 28 June 2011, 21:45:15 »
I have for sale a 98 pre facelift cd in met red paint, immaculate inside with light coloured velour trim. usual rust appearing around the body on doors at bottom and rear arches. Engine and auto box smooth and quite and no oil water mixing.
Bad Bits
Body corrosion as mentioned
Blowing drivers side zorst manifold
coolant leak (belived to be oil cooler plate)
but does not overheat
Eml light on but i think that is related to the blowing zorst.

Taxed till august 11
and mot till about he same time
This was my dads car untill about a year ago and was serviced by my self and a pal (vx tech)
every 3/4000 miles, gear box filter and fluid changed at 90,000 miles
Brand new rear screen fitted 3 weeks ago due to local scrot.

EVERTHING WORKS INCLUDING THE SUNROOF BULB ;D

Tyres all ok but some wear due to camber issues on the front, rears good 3/4mm all round.

Too good to scrap but would like it to go to someone who might repair and let it live some more.
Mileage is about 140,000 but will confirm

£250 and it is yours. pm me if your intrested
Gary.

General Car Chat / PRE FACELIFT 2.5 BREAK OR NOT?
« on: 05 May 2011, 23:23:11 »
I will be picking up a r plate 2.5 V6 at the weekend, but not sure what to do with it. It was my fathers car upto a bout 18 months ago but he sold it to his buddy along the road when he got his 3.2 Elite.
It is in fantastic condition for its age and is CDX spec, and has been seviced by myself every 4,000 miles up to 18 months ago then again about a year ago.
Now the burning question is  do i break it or do the repairs that are needed.
It needs a new seat belt pre tensioner, the drivers side zorst manifold gasket is blowing or cracked and has a coolant leak which i think is the cooler plate.
On top of that it is due a cam belt kit ::)
As it was my dads i am a bit reluctant to break but i know that it will cost a bit to repair, so what do i do.

Suggestions please. :-/

General Car Chat / LPG TANK
« on: 16 March 2011, 00:47:10 »
Today, my Jeep went into Arun Autogas, in chichester for the tank to be removed
and replaced with a bigger tank.
The 55 ltr tank is being replaced by a 90ltr tank in the boot behind the rear seats.
It will take up a bit more room but it does not matter as i only use the Jeep for offroad fun so boot not important.
With the 55 ltr tank i could only manage 130 miles and the way it likes to home in on petrol stations i decided to get a bigger capacity.
They have recently converted my dads 3.2 elite and have made a stunning job of the install. Very neat as well and drives like it should.
They are servicing the front end as well and have done me a deal on a second hand tank but have had to pay for a new valve but thats all,
the cost to me £250 all in.
I pick it it up on sat morning as i cant get down before then but as i have the estate it's not a concern.

Cant wait to get her back. :y

General Car Chat / lpg tank
« on: 26 January 2011, 17:47:27 »
Hi all, this mainly directed at the lpg experts on here, so here goes,
My Jeep Cherokee is converted to run autogas and has a 50ltr cylinder tank in the boot, and frankly the range on this gas gussler is pants, my question is, what is involved in swapping the tank for a larger capacity tank, obviously there is the tank its self but will the pipework be cut and run to that tank and will there/or should there be a bit of slack that can be used if needed, and will the fitting screwed into the tank be universal to all tanks. As far as i know it is a stacko tank, i look forward to all your thoughts, over to you.

General Car Chat / GM BELT TENSIONER FAILURE, AGAIN, GRRRR
« on: 11 December 2009, 19:49:08 »
Although not an omega this is a vectra b with the X30 3.0 ltr engine, and is owned by my brother in law, His car was originaly a 2.5 but suffered tensioner failure and destroyed a good motor by punching a hole in one of the pistons, so i had a X30 engine sitting in my garage and offered it to him as a replacement, Before we fitted it and while it was on an engine stand it was fitted with a new oil cooler and Gen vx belt Kitand replaced all orings and intake seals where needed.
The engine was fitted by a pal who works for vx and the car ran absolutly fantastic untill a couple of weeks ago when it started to missfire and run like a pig
The belt tensioner had collapsed and the belt became lose and jumped 6 teeth and caused valve damage to the rear bank of cylinders. Because the betl was loose it flapped about and the torx bolt just above the tensioner  munched  grove in the belt.
The new TENSIONER HAD DONE JUST 12,000 MILES........
Why are gm not supplying parts that will reach the spec'ed change intervals, it is a scandal that we as owners do everything that vx say we should do and then the parts that we buy are as good as a chocolate teapot.
So the situation is as we type  a dead vectra and gm laughing it's guts out..... i AM VERY p*****d off.
So is my brother in law. >:(

General Discussion Area / b####Y SCROTS
« on: 04 June 2011, 14:39:59 »
 >:( >:( >:( >:( Last night i was woken from a light slumber at about 11.30pm by my pal from across the road informing me that a couple of tossers on a motorbike had smashed the rear screens on my Estate AND MY Saloon omegas with a hammer. The pillion was hitting cars as they rode down the street shouting BOMBS!!!

So i called the 24 hour phone number for body glass renewal and they got National Windscreens to call  me. 5mins later a call from the out of hours fitter phoned and asked if the cars i my opinion where as secure as can be to which i said no not really.
The guy then said that he would open up the secure depot in croydon where i could store the cars untill the screens came in this morning. finally got to bed at 2.30am this morning. >:(
This morning a call from the windscreen co informed me that the saloon screen would not be availible untill monday and the estate screen had been delivered with a broken heated screen terminal so would not get a replacement until monday as well >:( >:(.

On the up side the guy last night and the fella this morning could not have been more helpfull and the cars are secure in his depot untill monday at least.

So a big thank you to National Windscreens in croydon area for the help and rides home last night and a big threat to the scrots that caused the damage.... if i catch you you will need more than a screen fitter to sort your problems.

Then to make matters worse, I found out a couple of moments ago that 4 other cars where done last night and all were the rear windows. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
