MV6 Electrical Fault.
« on: 06 July 2013, 11:44:52 »

Just took my car for a spin and on the way home i noticed the battery light was just lit, then all the dials dropped and the abs, airbag, service light and battery lights were fully lit. the engine had very little power. got it home, plugged in the code reader to find p0560. cleared this just incase - all ok until light revs and then all happened again. HELP..
where do i start to look. recently changed the battery if that makes any difference...

Sounds like alternator regulator is playing up. Run these tests http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90619.0

tested battery. all good until engine started and under load - getting readings from 1-13.5v then rev to 2000 and getting readings from 1-18.3v then loading and revving getting readings from 17-18v. does this point to alternator?

First, if it's making 18v you need to turn it off NOW before it does any damage.
Then you need to repair/replace the alternator as that is the only cause.

Assuming it`s a Bosch alternator, get the part number off the black casing at rear and post up

Same problem as me a few weeks ago.
Replace the regulator on the alternator  ;)

Don't drive the car or you will end up frying all the computers

I've had regulators from here before:

http://www.rotatingelectrics.co.uk/

They are also on Ebay.

EDIT: and in the case of my 3.2 (probably same as 2.6) the regulator required was a Cargo part 139044. (pattern part. Not sure if they sell genuine also)
