Wiper Settings gone up the wall.
« on: 27 April 2016, 16:12:45 »

Hi.
I hope someone can help me.
My wipers have stopped working properly. I have the rain detector on the top of the windscreen
and now I have found the first setting - windscreen rain doesn't work. The second setting which is
occasional doesn't work. The only one that works is constant and quicker.
I recently had work done on it where the battery was disconnected. Is there a relay reset like the windows
and sunroof or is it more terminal.
Thanks for anyones help with this....... :'(

I have now found out it is a fault that needs clearing with a teck2.
Can it be reset without this or have I no option.

Shouldn't need a Tech 2 to reset it, although a Tech 2 session might help to diagnose the issue, think I would be looking at Relay, Stalk connections, and or Rain Sensor itself working correctly.  :-\

Oviously over the sensor, rather than randomly...

Tech2 wont help, its not an ECU controlled system.

Its virtually identical to the earlier, variable type fitted to all earlier cars, with the variable resistor being replaced by the rain sensor. So its a case of using a meter.

Also when I squirt water, the wipers don't come on so possibly relay.

Given the symptoms, I've be looking at stalk itself, or the connector/wiring around the stalk.
