The Greek end, although I'm told it's a lot greener in the North, but until they sort out their differences, or if even if that could ever come about, then it's the South in the plan.SWMBO isn't to sure about the 40-50c mid summer temperatures that our friends have recently experienced, but I think we'll both benefit from the dry climate healthwise. We're waiting to see how the Brexit issue is going to affect the ex pat community, although our friends have already got full residency and work permits since settling there last year. 8)

I'm 'fairly' sure that's going to be the case, but this limp wristed government is frigging around to the point that I'm not going to burn our UK bridges until everything is cast iron.TBH...I can't wait to spend the kids inheritance  8) ;)

Beautiful island, fantastic food (mix of greek, turkish and arab) and out-of-town very friendly people .... big towns have been ruined by an influx of "others" .. with a lot of places having almost "no-go" areas due to organised crime. Many say it's russian mafia but in reality it is just groups of criminals in old-style gangs.

There are parts of Limassol, Ayia Napa and Larnaka that I wouldn't walk around after dark, but up around Pomus it is lovely, but a tad isolated. Paphos has been ruined ever since they built the airport, a beautiful fishing village now a major urban conurbation.

You are right,my mate is living in Peyia which is part of Paphos, and they seem happy there. Our budget should be healthy enough not to live too near to the holiday hotspots, especially some of the places you mention,as we don't want to be living in an area where there are a lot of hotels and holiday lets. 8)

Present plans are quite simple ... two options, weather will decide which...

1) Rain/cold/windy ... hang around at Sereks until 0930, catch bus (bus pass) into town, make use of library to sit and read Kindle, when bored wander around shops etc etc maybe even do a movie.

2) Warm/sunny/nice ... walk into town, sit in the park and read, when bored wander around shops etc etc maybe even do a movie.

Nige, I need to go to Serek's soon and rather than sit quietly in a corner of his workshop whilst he lavishes his usual loving care on my Omega, I'd like to follow your suggestion of the bus pass option as my arthritic legs and other problems won't carry me very far these days, so could you advise on what bus to catch and where from please?
Thanks,

Ron.

With the building along the coast road over the last 15yrs, that's almost part of Paphos now. In fact its nearly all conurbation from Paphos to where the Akamas National Park starts at St Georges, and there is more and more building up further into the hills.

Even towards Pomos, which as Entwood points out is relatively untouched, there is widescale villa building going on.

Despite all that, we love the area :y
