Talking with my neighbour tonight  . . .he seems to think that all vehicles fitted with an engine under tray  . . .as is the Omega . . .will fail the new MOT rules if not in place when tested .

As mine on my CDX is not there , I have had a "google"  but nothing found 

Anyone know about this  . . or is Mr. Neighbour talking  "Dangle Berries"

Having just read section 6 of the draft new rules, I see no reason at all that a missing undertray would cause any comment   UNLESS a very pedantic examiner thought it came under "modification" rules ....  (:  A loose or badly fitted one that could come detached WOULD be a failure ....

6.2.1 Body condition
This inspection applies to all vehicles and includes all body panels as well components such as undertrays, spoilers and mirror housings. The inspection of bumpers is at Section 6.1.4.
A ‘body pillar’ applies only to the load carrying area of a goods vehicle.
An unsafe modification is one that is likely to cause injury.

(a)  A body panel or body component:
(i)
damaged or corroded and likely to cause injury when grazed or contacted,
or insecure
(ii)  likely to become detached.

(i)   insecure
(ii)   so insecure that load stability or security likely to be seriously impaired.

(i)   it permits the entry of exhaust fumes

I could not find anything either Nige  . . .so "Dangle Berries"   it seems to be .

My MOT not due until end of September  . . .so will call in to MOT man when I pass there to ask his opinion as a precaution . .  cheers,

Make sure it is fully attached, arguably cable ties won't cut the mustard... So original clips/screws or similar will be required.

Need to remove/replace the one one the A Class front third of the main body undertray is missing

Sound deadening panels have to be fitted now. I don't know if you could argue that an undertray was one - probably not.

In any case, I'd be arguing that it still doesn't make as much noise as the average clattery tractor engine!

One problem now is that it’s the computer that decides wether an item is a dangerous,major,minor or just advisory.my local test centre logged a car with an insecure under tray and it classed it as dangerous.but a leaking brake caliper as only a major !.dont know if there’s an option for missing undertray ?

If it's not fitted don't worry. So basically just remove it for not.

If it's not fitted it doesn't become an issue.
