Mobile phone question
« on: 27 April 2018, 19:21:45 »

Last week I was given one of those smart phones. It's a Samsung Galaxy Y,first problem was it wouldn't work with the card out of my old phone so I got a new card[foc]and kept my number. So I'm still learning how to use this new phone and I've found that apparently it doesn't have enough storage or some such to be able to take photos so I need a memory card.I'm told by Vodafone that their cheapest is £12 but I'm also told that they're readily available from such as e-bay for a lot less.First question is am I searching under memory card or another title?Second question then is where on the phone does it live if I get one? There's no slot on the side so it must go inside somewhere I presume.

Your Samsung Galaxy Y (the Y stands for Young) comes equipped with an SD card slot located on the side under the back cover. After removing the back cover, you'll be able to insert either a microSD or microSDHC into the slot, with a maximum capacity of 32 GB.

Dont buy cheap SD Cards off the Bay, most are fake memory.

Your phone will work with a 64gb if you Fat32 Format it.

Just don't buy off ebay, it's just not worth it. Pop along to a big Tesco or any Rymans or even PC World (Expensive!). You won't need huge memory. Unless you really take lots of pictures and video 8Gb will get you by, 16Gb, is ok. 32Gb is good. If you don't know what you're doing don't bother with more than 32Gb you probably won't need it.

I just bought a couple of class 10 16gb sandisk micro SD cards from Tesco Direct, around £7 each.

Sounds perfect for your needs.

Somebody has sent me something with insufficient postage on it.

I think the only thing I'm expecting via royal mail sent from this country is from an ebay seller for something I ordered a couple of weeks back, but haven't received.  oppswits. I supposed I'll have to pay the fine and missing postage to find out.

So, yeah, you're right, ebay best avoided. Full of oppswits. The sort who think its wrong they have to pay paypal fees, or that the royal mail are too expensive, and they shouldn't have to pay the full amount.

If there's no return address on it, they'll wait a few days and deliver it anyway. It's not theirs to keep.
