No point moving on. Very little good music produced after the mid 70,s. A few exceptions of course, with Stevie Ray Vaghan being the biggest exception. Imo of course.

Well . . . . . . I could agree, but then we'd both be wrong

For centuries people have said that the current and/or past music is best. In 20 years time people will say that of 2018.

Incidentally, my favourite era is probably 80s/early 90s american rock/metal, but no really strong views

I agree on the 70's / 80's. This weeks play list has included several days of The Cult, original Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ten Years After, Cactus, Stone Temple Pilots, SRV, Rory Gallagher (rarely a week goes by without listening to the maestro)  Eric Clapton with John Mayall & also the Allman Brothers, several Blues compilations along with modern bands like Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot. :y :y :y

Mrs TB was like a safari park chimp when she heard the news. Gawd help me.

Its not that I particularly dislike ABBA - its unoffensive, melodic pop with well written lyrics, and guaranteed to fill an empty dancefloor at the xmas disco - its just I do get a bit sick of it.

But the film, I fickin hate that like you wouldn't believe - I saw the stage show years ago when it opened, and thought that was pretty good (except it meant a night in Londonium), but the film is just plain crap and annoying. And the DVD is in the bloody car.

At least with such as ABBA you could tell what they were singing unlike a lot of the rubbish pedalled as music these days! While my musical tastes stretch back to Mozart,Sibelius etc. I do like some modern artists-last cd I bought was the Beautiful Trauma album by Pink-I'm just a little unsure about such "comebacks" being a good move.We shall see.

I'm sure Mrs TB is fully appreciative of the comparison with a safari park chimp ::) :-X
