Just had an e-mail headed i.d. request-customer consent GDPR it filled the whole screen so I couldn't read any of it and I've deleted it.Anyone heard of this or know anything about it?

Yep, new rule within EU about other Peeps or Organisations holding your Personal Data and what they intend to do or not to do with it, and how you have a right to know what there policies are, or words to that effect.

I had one from AOL yesterday. I went through both very long lists of "trusted partners" they sent me and unticked every one of them.

I must have had about thirty or so in the last month, some from sites I'd forgotten I'd signed up to.

The irony of spamming me with several unsolicited emails asking to consent to further emails I never explicitly agreed to (or had to as part of joining a service) is not lost on me.

Its a Legality they have to do it, or suffer the consequences.

So as I've deleted it[in part because I couldn't scroll down it to read what it said]what if anything happens because I've done nothing about it?
It's only in the deleted file at the moment,so if needed I can retrieve it.

depends who it was from and for what, if its anything thats not going to effect you then I wouldn't worry about.

Ive have a couple to do with Work, with no option to delete or comment on any of it, bottom line being something along the lines of 'Agree with it, Sign it, Return it, otherwise We will take you off Our Approved Suppliers List'

Don't worry about it, nothing will come of it. If it was genuine, and they really need you to action it, you'll get another one. But, as with anything new like this, scammers are trying to profit from the ignorance/confusion and there will be plenty of spam out there.

Mine are normally about some Russian bint wanting to bounce up and down on my nob though

No, it's a cop-out.  They have to get explicit consent from anyone they had implied consent from previously, whether it was given freely or through some hidden text in the Ts+Cs or even no consent at all.  I don't begrudge the one email asking me to re-consent, but when they don't give me a 'no' option other than ignoring the email which in turn generates several reminders over the next few days I get a little frustrated.  Don't forget, they also have the choice of deleting all data pre 25th May and starting again
