Talking of which, saw a DS safari earlier this year. Amazing thing!
Dad had one when we were little. That thing would go anywhere, and could lug a huge amount - when we came back from Cyprus, we took the long road touring Europe for a few weeks, 11 of us shared between a DS Safari and a Fiat 850 Sport Coupe.
It wasn't without its "citroen ideas" that didn't quite work out.... ….I remember a time when we'd stopped at the pub on the way to Grandmas, and upon restarting, the starter motor was toast (it was French, after all). Never mind, Citroen supplied a starting handle
. Only with the engine not running, the suspension was too low to turn the handle without hitting the ground
