Apparently there is actually a condition called SAD......or seasonal affected disorder. It seems more people top themselves during the winter months.

Bit of trivia for you. We live in the eleventh worst district (like part of a UK county) in Spain for suicides. Here it is traditionally in Spring. Don't know why but suspect another winter of no seasonal work and looking forward to another eight months with only the most basic of welfare ( about 400 euros a month per household assuming no one else working and you actually qualify). We sadly know several folk who did themselves in.

Got called out to a "one under" several years ago when I first joined the LAS , chap had just been served his redundancy took it badly so jumped in front of a train torso was intact legs looked like 30 kilos of minced beef.

I always feel more sorry for the friends and family left behind who have to deal with the emotions and possibly guilt, and also those who find the body, especially if it's a messy affair.

Ive had two mates hang themselves within the last five years. One of them wasn't that big a shock, but the other one was the last person in the world I would have expected to do it.

Same here. Its just a huge commerce fest now. Even most of the Christmas ads don't actually have anything to do with Christmas in them.
Shame we don't have young kids though as swmbo won a £500 Nintendo voucher yesterday.

Ignoring a seepage incident in Egypt (sphincter fully closed, and fully clenched, but I'd had Nile water), and an incident where I was about 6" too soon when "reversing up" one night, I'm proud to say I've never followed through*. I remain an excellent judge when it comes to farts.


*Ignoring when I was a baby, although mum says from the moment I learnt to stagger, I'd rip off nappies and pants, and sneak out of the flat, and proudly show all the girls on the beach my winky.
