Baggy leather seats.
« on: 13 January 2019, 11:30:14 »

The Tata has barely 14000 miles beneath her wheels but the leather front seats have become quite 'baggy' of late. My old XFR was sold with 50,000 miles on the clock and the seats were still nice and tight.

I did 'cure the problem' by spending 20 minutes with a hair dryer. This made the leather properly taut again but only for a couple of days.

Any ideas for a permanent fix?

I can think  of one or two OOFers who that statement would apply to more than me. :) ::) But I'm too polite to say.

I've just been following a thread on a BMW forum where the leather seats fitted to a brand new car were as baggy as the snatch of a 50 year old sex worker with eleven kids.

Took BMW to court and won. :)

The opinion of some is that the leather is not stretched enough before being used. The same can happen to carpets.

If the previous seats were fine and these aren't, then clearly there's summat amiss...

The driver's seat on my seat needed refoaming before it went back as that had failed on one bolster... But it was cheaply made and had done 135k...

Your car cost four times as much... Ergo it should wear much better :-\

Yup, it's a clearly defined tolerance measured in thousands of millimeters as opposed to thousandths of an inch ;)

There is a seat smoothing procedure, can email it across (ping me your email), it also shows images of what can and cant be smoothed (which may give you an idea of if there is a potential claim)

Somebody on here?

Come on own up. ;D

The seats are both heated and cooled and I wonder if the change in temperature doesn't help.

Silly leather seats without coolers should be banned.
