Corsa C new key/chip?
« on: 27 January 2019, 23:12:01 »

Hello chaps

My sister has gone and got herself a first car, Corsa C 1.0 12v. Seems a decent one, very low mileage, few niggles, but good for a 15 year old car.

Key started to get a little troublesome, the spare works perfectly. So... whats involved in getting a new key coded? I'd assume it's the same basic setup as a MFL/FL Omega. The physical key works fine, buttons etc, it's just the chip which clearly isn't talking to the immobiliser 100% reliably all the time.

So whats her options of getting a new key coded, anyone fancy the job / recommend anyone?

Try the key the other way up if it does not read the chip ,if that works mark the key for future reference  :y
some key fobs block the ID40 chip signal in one way .
as you have 2 ID40 chips ,one in each key ,just a new case may tidy things up  :-\
if the spare key is not a door remote and the main key is ,you could swap ID40 chips .
a completely new key wold need cutting and programming to the ecu if you don't/can't transfer the guts (car pass required i'd have thought)

First step is to remove any other car keys from the keyring :y

Who's furthest north on here with Tech 2 services? as the car's in Cleethorpes, North East Lincolnshire.

Suppose taking a day trip to travel to someone would be an option (would be her first long-distance drive) too.

Well, technically, Highlander is further North.  But too far North for Lincolnshire :D

Grand!

I'll pass the message on. By the way, depending what's actually required (I'm still presuming a new chip only, paired to the car) what prices are we talking - happy if you'd rather send info via pm.

Thanks, Mr DTM  :y

Check simple stuff first, such as the connections from the battery to the circuit board. I have an Omega key which is currently giving problems due to the connection between the two.
Hopefully a dab of solder will fix it.

More good points! I'll pass that on too. Her feller is well into his computatering, so fairly handy/familiar with squinting at PCBs and the like.

Corsa C has a different battery setup which is not soldered to the PCB so should be ok  :(
