Magazine Not Staying in - Combined CD/Tape player
« on: 11 February 2019, 20:51:11 »

My Y reg MV6 has a "standard" CD/tape/radio with the 4 disc magazine. I took it out on Friday to take the 4 discs out into the house, and came back to the car this morning to put 4 different discs in before I started my week.

Now the magazine has sat in there all weekend, empty, and now refuses to stay in. I can close the little door. If I select CD it obviously displays "Magazine" as an error.

Ideas? Experiences ?

Be worth examining the magazine cartridge as the little screws that hold it together can start to work loose with age. If the changer isn't detecting the cartridge or the cartridge does not lock into place then there is something either out alignment or broken within the mechanism.

Indeed.  And at the same time fix the suspension issues. Too.

If the magazine is not actually locking into place then there’s a little locking tab/ catch inside the unit that can get stuck .
If you look into the front of the CD player slot with a torch  you should see it towards the back of the unit and to the right side from center.
You need to make sure it’s flicked over to the right. If it’s not the magazine won’t go in .
This may not be the problem on yours but it was on mine and been ok since.
Hope his helps

I pushed the magazine in and it wouldn't latch, so I just closed the little door, forgot about it for a few days, and then Today I opened the door, it came out and then a pushed it in and it works fine now.  Panic over. I won't have to scrap it.  As a Reward I bought 3 new Tyres (the same as the 4th one which was replaced Last summer when  I hit a rock with the side wall on a 1 in 5 pass in the Lake District)

Mine does this fairly frequently.

Disconnecting the power resets it and it will accept the magazine again.

MrRog removed the retaining plates from the sides of the unit so it can be pulled out easily to disconnect the power.

I followed Kevin Wood's instructions to disable the security code so I don't have to enter it after disconnecting the power.
Quote
The procedure is as follows:

1) Disable code protection on the unit (optional).

I found it convenient to disable code protection on the CCR2006 before starting work. This is because I knew the unit would be in and out of the car a couple of times during the procedure and because I wanted to test it on the bench (without the MID connected!) once modified. I suspected that entering the code without a MID would not be easy.

The code can be disabled by powering up the unit with AS held down until a beep is heard, then using buttons 1,2,3 and 4 to change each of the digits displayed until the displayed code matches that on the car pass. Finally, AS should be held down once more until a beep is heard.

Removal of the code can be verified by powering up the radio and checking that "CODE" does not appear on the MID.
