Looks like it might be coil pack trouble!
« on: 25 June 2009, 15:30:43 »

Regarding my poor running issues....

Just been for a dog walk - car ran fine for the first 2 mins, on the way to the field. She then started hesitating on gas, and wasn't great on petrol.

On the way home - a clear misfire on one cylinder - on petrol, and on gas. Bearing in mind a brand new coil pack is fitted (pattern part). It was like one cyl wasn't firing at all, on both fuels.

Limped it the mile or so home, and fitted the old coil pack.

Instantly the misfire went away, smooth as anything on both fuels.

I said from the beginning, and I still think - it's an ignition issue.

Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get a genuine GM coil pack? Do I need to sit down when I learn what they cost?  ::)

Mine was to begin with - I just wonder if it can't cope with the extra ignition demands of LPG, though....

Strangely, although it definately misfired badly - it didn't store any codes  :-/

I thought CPP setup would throw a code when it misfired...  :-/

Good news and bad news

I have fitted a Genuine GM coil pack, brand new, and another set of GM plugs. (ouch!!)

Plug 3 is no longer getting black - all are a healthy colour now.  There is also no misfire.

Went on a run. For the first maybe 30 miles or so, it was Still "holding back" a little on LPG, in gears 1 and 2. After that, it seems better than it ever has. I wouldn't know I was on gas.

Let's just hope it keeps up - I guess time iwill tell.....
