well , with my 2hp compressor blowing cr*p out and the dyson spark plug well dust extraction system  :D
(and various combinations from my socket collection )
All plugs out  :) and all intact  :y
took a while  :-[ didn't want all that cr*p going into the bores
slight corrosion on 1,3,5 coil pack too but perfectly serviceable .
all electrodes looked ok ,not sooty, oily
all plugs 4 electrode
bosch plugs x 3 (2 stripes) n/s
bosch  plugs x 3 (1 stripe ) o/s

odd   :P

one of the first jobs i did was ensure the scuttle drains where leaf free
I suspect  :o some bovine excrement
MOT 29 nov @ 76,401 miles car serviced .
now 12 june @ 76,950 miles
so 549 miles ,of which i done at lest 300 of em  :)

No ,the local car lot/ mot garage that the 77 year old previous owner(2nd) brought it from and has had it serviced by .
so i don't trust owt they've done now
due a cambelt due to age (but only about 3k since the last) but i have the kit for that

It's running again  :)
and quite nicely now , quieter , was blatantly sucking air from the 2 snoop boot thing's between trumpets and throttle bodies
which would be un-metered air
not much  cr*p  in the breathers  :)
slight oil residue in the plenums ,cleaned the throttle bodies
cleaned up the bad coil pack for now till the replacement ilands (brother is moving house at the weekend )

will take it for a brisk stretch of it's legs tomorrow

thanks for all the help and guidance all  :y
plenty of work yet to do but belly rumbling / that's it for today  ;D

Contrary to urban myth it is possible to change all six plugs in less than 30 mins...  :y
Even with LPG injectors and plumbing in the way :)

I love hiring a villa, own pool, own house, own rules  :y

Sadly it was easy peasy with just me and MrsT as we could hire any POS box with seats.

With the Little Miss T's it gets rather more expensive, due to car seats and thus larger car. Looking forward to doing these again when the girls are older.
If I can get 5 adults reasonably comfortably in the back of my bog standard hire car, I'm damn sure I can get 2 adults and 2 "little darlings" in.  I need to walk round the back of the car and find out what Fiat it is. When I CBA ;D

The biggest issue we have is transferring all cases from airport to villa and back again.  Not an issue this year, as only 7 of us across 2 cars, but always used to be 10 of us across 2 cars.  But you can (just) get 5 cases in the back of a Focus saloon, although hang luggage has to sit on laps/by feet.  In our case, here, the airport is about 40 mins away, so its not too much of a hardship for that short time.

If the desire to do something is there, then its usually possible with minimal fuss, despite what yummy mummies and snowflakes might think.

A "service" at most back street garages is normally and oil and oil filter change.  A "service" at a main dealer with a Vauxhall badge out the front is often a pretty checklist suggesting how they can extract more money, plus if you are lucky, and oil change. If you are really lucky, maybe an oil filter change, although I've never had the pleasure of them changing the filter...

5 suitcases in Focus?  :o How! Must be tiny...

We had similar size car on our trip, we seriously struggled to fit our suitcase in. (2!)

Car seats mean back row seats are taken up by 2, due to width/size of them. Often car seat hire is more than actual cost of the car....

Even official stats say 2 suitcases...

Which is optimistic in my view!

Yes, defo 5 in the back of mine, 5 in back of bros. Saloon has more space. Generally each couple had a large suitcase, and one the next size down.  Racking brains what else we had, one year I recall a Note.

Easier now, with just 7 of us normally coming.

Why bother with a child seat, nobody else does in the euro places I've been lately.  A xfer coach won't have either ;)

Obviously, if you want to put barriers into the way, try Skegness, which you should be able to get for similar money.

You need a saloon, then the cases go in lengthways.

One year, hire company screwed up and got dates wrong, All we could hire at airport was a single Aygo.  For 10 people with luggage.  Well, you can imagine ;D

Cause the child is only 6 months old, I would not be happy with 6 month old on a lap. Even if it was legal.

Doing Ireland next year, but driving the mum bus. Also doing New York, but leaving the kids here for that one.  :D

Can probably get four cases in the back of the A Class without moving the rear seat ::)

Those little Citroën saloons look to have a decent sized boot too :y

The rest of world isn't forced to buy SUVs and MPVs by virtue of having a decent selection of proper cars to choose from...

The latest Focus saloon is available in RHD in Ireland, so God alone knows why we don't get it in the UK ???

Likewise Astra H...

I survived touring Europe on Mum's lap. In cars without airbags, ABS and other such tosh.  And thats with Dad driving....   ....and thats where I get it from.  Honestly, they don't need wrapping in bubble wrap, in fact will do a host of good not to.

That Europe tour was 11 of us, apparently (me far too young to remember) in 2 cars - A Fiat 850 Sport Coupe and a Citroen DS Safari.

Obviously, that was before the Jones' were invented, so we didn't need to keep up with them.  So I suspect for those few weeks, I made do with a small travel cot, and not a major building project, and not one of those silly modern prams ;D.  But let me check with Mum what we did take.

But, worry not, I here Skegness is lovely as well.

It’s not case of bubble wrap, just basic safety.  :y
