Not a bad motor, purely Honda chassis wise (though due to this the front wishbone suspension can affect front end handling - not enough travel)

I,ve always loved rovers Markie. Wifes got an MGZT at the moment and I think its great. I posted a thread a while ago on cars that I loved (Rover 600 series, Honda Legend etc) and I think you were the only one who liked them too.

Thing is they may not be best build quality - we all know there problems yadda yadda yadda

But there cheap and easy to fix and the parts sell real well!

I have never, ever driven a car with a better engine than my 623sli. 30mph in fourth, foot down and awayyyyy! Absolutely no need to change down at all. Bottom end torque was just out of this world. (Honda engine, of course) ;)

I can only speak for the 600 series, but a word of advice: if a 620ti pulls up next to you at the lights, pretend you are not interested at all, or else you'll end up with a very red face :)

One thing i did like about it, was its fairly standard looks.

It blended in with all other 600's

ahh but therein lies the problem.  I have a 2000 registered 3.0 mv6 - the rover although fast cant match the mv6 allround the only thing it has on the omega is acceleration.

I cant justify - to the wife anyway - keeping two toys  :(

Think i will maybe take my time putting it 100% right using it a bit - letting her drive it a bit - and see, if she maybe smiles when she accelerates  ;)

I sold a 2000 reg rover 75 classic se which was i think a nice looking car to buy my lastest omega  it was built awfully,  interiour parts would break off in your hand at the slightest touch,  and the cabin noise from the 2.0 v6 was terribe,   fuel was even worse the my omega 27mpg on a gentle run.  clutch was imposible to use (very jerky).

but i have been told the 6 seris rovers were much better put togehter all be did like to rust i have also owned two sd1 rovers 2000 and a 2600 loved both of them shame about the rust.

Headgasket went first on the 2600. 3500 got nicked and the 2000 got moved on for a profit. All i can remember about the 2000 was the dashbord, it was like a bloody disco , about the time everthing started to have low level sensors added. Dipstick, brake pads, washer bottle, every five miles another light would start flashing, all false of course, the electrics were awful ;D

I've owned a few Rovers, all of them been good cars. They all have their problems - mainly build quality - but so do most cars. I still drive a 1.6 Rover 25 - a nice fun motor around the lanes...

If it's bone dry and you've got good tyres on! If not, add at least a few seconds and prepare for some proper torque steer, these things are notorious for it - Focus RS doesn't get a look in :D

Can't grumble for £200 though!

Doubt it... again maybe in the bone dry depending on the differences between the drivers, but all else being equal, the 840 may be heavier but it also has 315 BHP and 265 width tyres on the rear... i.e. you know the place where all the weight shifts when you accelerate  ;)

Quoted 0-60 for a standard 620ti is around 7 seconds. Being turbo'd they can of course be tuned quite easily though... I looked into one ages ago as a super-cheap runaround when I had my Subaru, but couldn't be bothered with the reliability record of them.

Trouble is rarer than rocking horse droppings!!!

If you can stop the buggers rusting, they are not too unreliable.  I've heard of turbo problems on the 200 Tomcat coupe which uses basically same engine, but then I guess cars like that are going to be bought by people who are going to rag the arse off it all the time, in the same way the scoobies often have major engine issues.
