Question about EML
« on: 03 August 2006, 18:06:22 »

Hi Peeps

Prolly another silly question but....

If the EML is on...Not in limp mode....no power loss either.....will the fuel consumption suffer?
Does the ECU alter engine settings if the EML is on?

Reason I ask is my EML came on this morning.....took 3 goes to get it to start....then ran fine as above but EML stayed on nearly all day.

I went to Ipswich today.....360 miles round trip.....and my fuel consumption on LPG was back to where it was before I changed the clogged air filter.....well 1mpg better! it averaged (worked out with mileage and how much lpg i used) 25mpg (no aircon on), i was expecting high 20's. EML did go out after about 300 miles.

If no is the answer i think a trip to lpg installers again to check setup, as i havent done this since i changed the air filter for a nice clean one and i guess it could be now running too lean.

I read the engine codes just now and got

P0170 NP Rich/lean exhaust
P0340 NP Camshaft No/Incorrect signal
P1700 NP SVS request via CAN eh???
P0700 (didnt say NP or Present) EOBD Error stored by transmission control module/MIL request from transmission control module

From the transmission i got

P0727 CAN receive error eh???
p1781 CAN receive error eh???

I had these codes before about 3 weeks ago......vx dealer just reset the codes!!
Theres gotta be summat going wrong here......and im going to book it in with another dealer...coz if i take it back to orig dealer and they just reset the codes again......this to me is unacceptable! Do they expect me to keep taking it in every few weeks for them to reset the codes?? I can do that!!

While i was there i also looked at CLIMATE

Got

32 Left solar sensor low input
34 Right solar sensor low input

Any ideas what that means or what they do??

Cheers

Hmmm.....it sounds like the same prob. I had, turned out to be the cam sensor.

Mine, according to the dealer, was reading transmission codes.

Could be a sign of a failing cam sensor...

Not sure about the other codes - maybe a result of lpg?

Cheers guys

Think i'll take it to the other dealer across other side of town.....will cost me 15 notes in cab fares  ;D
but rather go there as they have been helpful with a prob on my vectra dual fuel (they have lpg facilities) and also signing form for trade club card, unlike dealer within walking distance! Better do it pretty soon as cab fares go up 1st sept!!  :D

I agree with you Jaime about P0170....and not bothered about that one.....but others carnt be lpg related, can they?
Actually.....thinking about it you sound like the blokey behind the service desk at my nearest vx dealer.. ;D...1st time i took it there with these faults....this will be the 4th time....he blamed the lpg conversion! he even said ecu was complaining of lpg errors......tho he couldnt show me......afaik its only the proper dual fuel jobbies that the ecu knows about the lpg.
Second visit.....they didnt mention the lpg conversion and changed the MAF sensor as the fix.
Did go a couple of months b4 prob came back......
Third visit the vx dealer just reset the codes.....no fault found!
When I get the EML on its always on starting.....never when its been running a while....when starting and for at least 30secs depending if hot or cold its on petrol.

Cheers

For a price that high I would go with the ECU playing silly beggers.

Hope its not the case.

Although that Vx's answer to everthing.

Wasn't it you who had it replaced or someone else on hear.

If it was yourself surely that would still be under warranty.
