Few niggles
« on: 11 August 2006, 13:12:33 »

After sorting the DIS pack, I now have to worry about a few other issues.

- There is a rattle from the exhaust. Present when you rev it or back off the throttle. Sounds like its from the downpipe/cat area.

- There is a loud knocking/heavy tapping noise coming from the engine. Mark, its the same noise that you heard. It just never goes away. If anything its got worse.

Mark....PM Sent regarding another issue.

I had a similar thing on mine I thought it was coming from the front but I found out the centre join where the CAT meets the centre box was vibrating madly against a loose heatshield, worth checking both Heatshields under your CAT(S)

TBH, it does sound like that sort of rattle.

Like a thin sheet metal rattle.

Will get her up the stands and have a look.

Loose heatshield is the favourite for the rattle, a nice big jubilee clip around the base of the heatshield normaly does the trick.

There are also two heatshields (top and bottom) each side around the manifold. They appear to rot around the mounting bolts and become free. A few washers will solve the problem.
