Omega A 3.0 24v loses power as 4200RPM :'(
« on: 22 July 2019, 10:52:19 »

Hello dear friends :D ,
I was looking for some guidance  :D.
I have an  Omega A 3.0 24v,and after 4200RPM loses power :'( ... I suspect the Dual Ram system ... I checked for pipes and they look OK ...
Is there any system schematics or have you ever had a similar problem?
Thank you  ;D :D

Not quite like the dual ram on the Carlton/Senator 24v as there’s two, it’s called multi ram on these engines, the link should put you right👍 ^^^^

It’s a lot easier to check on the straight 6 as you can rev it under the bonnet whilst watching it open

Sounds as though it could be the vacuum sphere for the dual ram.
They are prone to leaking

Could be, check you have a good vacuum arriving at the sphere if so then the diaphragm inside is knackered or the shaft is seized either way you'll need a new one. You could improvise I used a vacuum capsule for my rear multiram and it works fine.

IIRC people used one way aquarium airline valves to solve this vacuum loss  :-\

On the straight six the dual ram valve should open about 4000 rpm. Easy to check if it works. Just rev the engine from under the bonnet. Should also be obvious when driving. When the car passes 4000 rpm and the valve opens it will pull noticeable better and the engine sound changes to a more «throaty/rougher» sound. Much more noticeable than on the more sophisticated multiram setup on the v6. At least that was the case on the 2,6 straight six Omega A i once owned. (same intake/dual ram setup as the 3,0 24v.)

Put a pipe on the nipple (not yours) and suck hard you will see the rod move if it’s working properly.     Oohh missus.. ;D ;D

Thaaanks to all, but dual ram is ok.... I rev and I've seen it Open.... tha vacumm pipes are ok .
It starts with a good torque but after the Dual-ram opens it seems to lose strength and can't rev up to 6000... looks like it's clogged....
Any Ideia or a common problem in these engines  :(

Thanks again friends

Try disconnecting the exhaust before the cat and see if it’s any better
