Welcome!

The old tractors are becoming fewer now, as the world's suddenly decided that all diesels are evil. Because theyre an older gen of Diseasel you can run then on veg oil without serious issue, in whatever percentage you wish (20% from memory without heavily clogged fuel filter every 5 mins) also they're torquey, can be chipped to the bhp they were supposed to have in the first place (GM detuned them because...GM) also parts arent impossible because Omegas, old 5 series and P38(?) Range Rovers used the same engine. 50mpg at 50mph, and turbo whine, what's not to like?

...sold mine and got a V6  ;D :D ;D

Do it spending wise, keep an eye out for the quality parts at the right price, as costs mount up quick, use the forum and the expertise here, it can be done. Mine was off the road for 7 years and she's been a daily driver for nearly 40k more miles now, clocked over to 213k the other day. Can be done.  :y

Also at 8 or 9 posts a day that magic 250 mark will be reached in a mere month, so hardly 'horse work' and even a simple to-and-fro argument conversation on here could easily eat up 10 or 20 posts in an evening. As above, it's just to stop people wandering in, taking people's money, then leaving the Admins who maintain this for free out of the kindness of their hearts to get messages of complaint, demanding they 'do something' etc...

Anyone's welcome, OP, join in, have some banter... there's even some nice people on here!  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Starting trouble .... fuel?
« on: 23 January 2020, 22:33:53 »
Mine is still doing similar issues to what you say. Once started, even if run for only two seconds, you shut down, then start her up again, she fires instantly - leading me to think fueling, possibly fuel pressure being lost somewhere. I have a FPR which I'll be trying at some point too, though.

Start with the cheapest or free repairs first, that's my motto, and work up. (not that my advice is worth much lately  :D ::) )

Ive got good news for you... there's another one of those under your bonnet! And it's on a redundant system, it's the SAI (Secondary Air Injection) System, which is between the front of the engine and the radiator beneath the battery, that area.

The SAI recycles air on a cold engine, just to help emissions a very very slight amount - only at cold, though, makes NO difference once engine is up to temp. I (and many others) have removed this entirely, as the pumps fail, the hoses leak, which causes the engine to run poorly. It's the Omega engine bay's equivalent of an Appendix.

Just fit that one, and while you're there remove and block off the SAI system.  :y

Omega General Help / Re: Front tie rod
« on: 16 January 2020, 23:14:04 »
one of the oldest truths on OOF - aftermarket idlers are no good / last 2 mins.

I've fitted a good low mileage 2nd hand one and mines still got play in it, so either play is elsewhere, or that idler's stuffed, too...  :-\ genuine GM only ones to get... Lemforder made the originals and apparently genuine Lemforder aren't much cop either...

Omega General Help / Re: Cheap Wishbone kit on E B*y

Hence why I bin the cheap bits that wear out. The basic metal structure is fine. The bushes and balljoints went straight in the bin.  :)

That's why I've done what I've done, the metalwork is generally of 'fine' standard (there is more weld on GM than cheapy chinese ones)  but its the bushes which wear, so replace them with quality and all's well.

I also put a liberal coat of stonechip paint on the metal before fitting and a visual inspection shows some small surface rust here n there, but that's 4 years and nearly 40k later, the tie rods with 'factory' paint only are thick red rust now.

I think I put the link up to these late 2019, as all I'd do with these is rebush them (as I have done on the ones I have fitted) the basic metalwork is fine. I have ATP parts fitted currently nearly 40k done on them with one NS track rod failure only (that was 2 years ago)

If I didn't have more important things to worry about, ie: the running maladies which I haven't cured yet, I'd be getting these in the shed for a rebush as and when suitables GM ones (plus balljoints) came up. However, if these still remain on the bay for much longer I may well just get them and don't tell Miss DBG!!  ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Omega LSD
« on: 18 December 2019, 23:29:35 »
Just to throw doubt into proceedings, just have a google and research what shape a 20+ year old LSD is likely to be in, even on low miles, versus what you are intending to gain from the fitting of such. I seem to recall reading a rather in depth look at, amongst others, an Omega LSD from a top OEM (Prodrive, someone like that), and they tested it to discover it had lost 50% of its effectiveness after 80k.

I'm sure my figures are well off, but it was something like the above.

I'm biased in as much as I've never ran a car with one, but is it 'pub bragging rights', or are you building  a track day car, or something else?

Just checked the fuel clips I bought last year... 13-15mm. Ugh!! I have a couple spare which I keep with a bit of nitrile hose in the boot.. Will reso the clips using these smaller ones, then. Just to confirm once and for all that fuel weeping is -or isn't- the cause of this starting issue.

Wish id realised I had several sat in my chuffing boot before I ordered ten, of the wrong size!! Bad luck and stupidity are hitting me a bit heavily of late...
