I've just changed the front pads and discs on mine the new pads came pre chamfered they also had a hard plastic backing pad on the back of the steel part of thae pad. I presume that this is some type of anti squeel design. However I saw a set of new pads recently that I think must have been older stock these were not chamfered and did not have the backing plastic, both sets were genuine Vx parts. If you are modifying the pads already fitted to your car the pads I fitted have about a 10 mm chamfer on both leading and trailing edge at an angle of about 10 degrees. I could not get my head around the design because surely if the surface of the pad is reduced the contact area is smaller, therfore braking efficiancy is impaired .
