Just got back from a walk with the pooch
« on: 24 September 2019, 14:48:40 »

Pissing down with rain, just a few oldish fellas with their mutts out and about. "Ow do, 'Ows thee dog? She's a right cutie" "Ay up, lad, has thee been t'res (the local reservoir) this aft? Full o' blue green algae. Terrible"
No one had listened to or was interested in the big news. Happy as Larry, they were, living the simple life. 'F**k it' I thought, 'I think this might be my future'.

I even like going to Asda now. I put my telephone number into the console on the way in, pick up a bar code reader and of I go. I bleep my way around the store, go to the 'scan and go' checkout, pay and walk out. No need to speak to anyone at all.  :)

So....if I've decided to stop thinking about the future.....I should just buy a big, comfortable, polluting car.  :)
Now you're talking, Stevie, lad. ;D

I have had several phone conversations in the last month with an old fella in Yorkshire, due to the fact his racing pigeon decided it didn't want to fly home from Kent and has taken up residence at my workplace.
He sounds so laid back and relaxed about everything it makes me want to go and live up North.

Probably if you did manage to send it back he,d only wring it,s neck. A homing pigeon that doesn,t fly home is no use at all. ;)

I did offer to call the RSPCA or have it humanely dispatched, but he really wants it back if he can arrange the logistics.
Having said that, being a Yorkshireman, hes far to fickin tight to drive down here and collect it.

There was a very sick looking pigeon in my garden yesterday. Went up to it, but to ill to fly, just fluttered away a few feet. Should have really put it out of it,s misery but haven,t got the bottle. Dropped a plastic container over it and took it to a belt of trees just down the road and released it. Just sat there but when i looked a couple of hours later no sign of it. If  i had an airgun i would have done the deed. :-[

You need a cat, Ron.

So do we now, as our garden pest control sub-contractor(rodents, birds, foxes) died unexpectedly last week.

I have a pest controller - rabbits, foxes, deer, people of they are remotely left wing - coming into work this weekend, so I may get him to bring the little episode to a close.
