Hi guys. Apologies in advance for volume 2000 of the headlight restore topic.
I polished my headlights with the kit from Autoglym and Quixx. The near side is perfect. The offside is really irritating me...
It's completely smooth and has no discolouration or anything of the sort. It's just hazy. Today I went down to 800 grit followed by the Quixx kit 2000, 3000, 5000, polish compound, then finally lens sealer.
No difference at all ;D
Do I need to go down another grade until they become clear once again or has this headlight gone as far as it'll go?

No difference at all ;D I did mine last week with auto glym restorer & they turned out great. I had a pair of xenons in the shed which I removed from an elite , they too need cleaning up so this morning I thought of having a go. I soon remembered that I removed them in the first place because they are badly marked on the inside of the lens . could yours be likewise. I haven't got the confidence to try & separate the lens from the unit but to clean that's what they need

Try working on a small area say the size of a 10p, give it some welly, then lots of fine wet and dry then polish before giving up the whole lens.

Are you sure the haze isn't on the inside?

I managed ( quite easily ) to separate the lens from the unit. however its taking some cleaning. my guess is somebody has at sometime put something on the lens & put flaws in the plastic.

Ps mot failed today ;D
NSF TRE excessive play in balljoint (.I was only singing the ATP praise this week ;D) and OSF headlight no beam image.
On the aim machine thingy it's just a blob of light with no line and kick. Changed the bulb just in case. Still a blob of light ::)
This headlight is giving me too much grief. What with the hazing and the beam image. It's going in the bin :y ;D

Ps, both TREs replaced today and tracked up. Steering wheel slightly off centre ::)

However, there was a "dead" spot in the steering in this certain position on my drive. That ha now gone and steering feels nice again

I was only singing the ATP praise this week
As I've said before, they are pretty shite, same league as most cheap pattern.
Been there, seen it, got t-shirt, quickly learnt that showing a GM one on will outlast the car. Its not a "buy GM" for the sake of buying GM. Its a case of not having to buy another in the future, or piss around having to change them again, or pay for realignment on that. The cheap pattern TREs quickly end up more expensive. As I've found to my cost.
