Is it worth when you buy a new one, locally for £50?

Plenty of the cheap ones around at that price and nowadays the cheapo ones are usually long lasting and good quality anyway.ive had unknown make ones outlast well known brands but if you wanted to go higher quality you should find a yuasa or a bosch silver for around the £100 mark.all a matter or personal preference .

I was looking to spend less - I thought a not too old secondhand one would do the trick. Maybe I have this wrong;
the car will be sat around in the south of France for 7 months of the year & then only used occasionally. It will be disconnected when not in use of course - would you still advise a new battery under these circumstances? ( trying to get my wallet open has always been a struggle ) :o :y

its all a matter of personal preference.a used battery is ok in theory just like used tyres because 99% of cars on the road are using them.its a case of how old vs price vs how much life left.

Yes, you're right of course.
Thanks....

That's all the more reason to fit a high quality new one.
