My sentiments as well, when a certain driver runs out of skill. ;D ;D ;D

I did like the Max fans cheering right next to the Ferrari fans  :D :D

Great result, wish I put a bet on, would have been damn good odds for Lewis win.

This was supposed to be a (kind of) spoiler. I guess it's found it's legs now.  ;D

Just after Hamiltons pitstop, when it started to rain, I said to swmbo "Hamilton is going to win this". I could feel it in my bones.
He would still have won if Vettel didn't stuff it into the wall. He was catching at 2.5 seconds a lap, but I cheered like mad when I saw him run out of talent. It was hilarious.  ;D ;D ;D

I was dying to hear who he was going to blame but he couldn't think of anyone, so he then brushed it off an said he wouldn't be losing any sleep over it. Yeah right.  ::)

Only the bit of sleep he loses by crying himself to sleep.

I switched off after the race. I take it he congratulated Lewis on his win?

Not that I can remember, no.  ::)
He has no excuses if he doesn't easily win the title this year. The Ferrari is obviously considerably quicker than the Mercedes.  :)

Why didn't Kimi win then? Ay? Ay? Tell me that  :P

He is near the end of his career, and has never been in the same league as Hamilton anyway. Vettel seems to believe he is in a league of his own and only loses races if his car isn't good enough, or the other drivers, or the powers that be do stupid things to stop him from winning.
Fact is, he has only ever won titles when he had a huge car advantage and a team mate who wasn't allowed or able to beat him.
As soon as Riciardo arrived at Red Bull and outdrove him, he ficked off to Ferrari, and made sure he was undisputed number one in the team.

Hasn,t Hamilton been hauled in front of the race stewards for driving over the grass or something like that? ???

Yep, he rightly got a slap on the wrist. He didn't gain an advantage, just lost time by bailing out of a pit stop just after he entered the pit lane.  ;)

Where Hamilton & the team put their hands up and said they made a mistake, so Hamilton was reprimanded where he broke the pit entry / exit rule, but he was deemed to have gained no advantage and he made a safe exit and reentry, unlike Vettel's cornering skills which was an unsafe, uncontrolled exit. ;D ;D ;D But not to worry, Ferrari will have the T-cut before the next race so you won't see the scratches to the car or those from the high speed landing of the steering wheel. ;D ;D ;D

Vettel to me is a driver not a racer, IMO he lacks the race craft to be the latter. :D

Right man won. Vettel plonker.

I love damp races. Shows the skilled drivers.

Anyone watching leclerc? He outperforms his teammate in the dry. In the wet? Who was calling the tyre change for him?

I agree Rods. Vettel is very fast with a clear track in front of him, but cracks under pressure in the heat of battle. Seems to be a German trait, as Schumacher and Nico Rosberg were exactly the same.

Just read in Autosport that all Ferraris rivals are querying the strange performance advantage they have suddenly found.
The FIA say everything is legal and above board, but the other teams cant explain how and why.
History repeating itself ? Are we going back to the dark days of Schumacher / Todt etc ?
Todt is after all, head honcho at the FIA now.  :-\

Well so far, they can cheat all they want, if Vettel continues to crash into Max or all on his own it won't make a difference.  :D

But were they not caught previously fiddling some of the hybrid power more than they are allowed? The FIA put more sensors on, perhaps they have found a way around that.

Apparently they have found a better way of harnessing battery output, worth around 20/25 bhp

They have indeed. The crux is whether or not they have done it within the rules. Either they have or the FIA is as bent as it was in the Schumacher era. We will probably never know the truth, but imo if Ferrari are faster than the rest, chances are they are cheating.
It always seems to happen after they start threatening to pull out of F1, which they did a lot of just before the Schumacher era, and were doing again about a year ago.  ::)

start complaining they can't win.

Same thing really. Every time they have a few years of not being able to win a championship, despite spending more than any other team, they start threatening to pull out of F1.
For some reason, the perceived wisdom is that F1 wouldn't be F1 without Ferrari. Personally, I don't agree with this. I think fans tend to support their favourite driver, rather than a team. Unless they are Italian fans of course.  :D
For me the mystique of Ferrari died with Enzo. Since then it has been just another exercise in Branding like Nike, Beckham, etc. etc.
This is why people walk around wearing Ferrari branded clothes, watches and god knows what else, and have never even sat in one.

Your Aunt Daisy is faster than Kimi and more motivated.

I dfisagree. I think he is still better / quicker than more than half the drivers on the grid. He aint what he used to be though.

He's a safe pair of hands who I can see being signed for another season

Yes....the best car finishing 5th or 6th is a great achievement. ::)

From memory, he has been on the podium in almost every race so far this year.
He also knocked Hamilton off on the first lap at Silverstone, which probably earned him a contract for next year.  ;D

Its all 'dangle berries' now anyway. It should be 200 miles of hell for leather, no stops. Not this wank of artificial overtaking, pitstops and tyre management.

Two laps of the M25 should do it :D

I completely agree, as do the drivers. Its the t wats who run the show who are ruining it.
The cars now although putting out lots of power are a joke, with all the hybrid crap. They sound like a very loud BSA Goldstar.
When they did the 70th anniversary parade at Silverstone, one of the cars involved was a Red Bull from about 5 years ago.
The sound of the thing was spine tingling and it looked as though it was going a lot faster than the current cars, although Im sure it wasnt.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Despite all that though, Hamiltons performances at both Silverstone and Hockenhiem were something very special indeed. Worthy of comparison with any of the greats from the past.

Kimi can't believe his luck. He doesn't even pretend to be interested in his job yet still gets the thick end of £1 million every time he turns up for a leisurely Sunday afternoon drive. :)

He is very laid back out of the car, and completely disinterested in any of the showbiz circus that goes with F1. Apparently he is often sound asleep ten minutes before climbing in the car. It just his character I think.
Hhe has a bit of a party animal reputation though when on his own time. Likes plenty of drink and pretty ladies.

For my money, Kimi is one of the best f1 drivers out there, agree he hasnt won any races for a while, but his podium finish record surpasses vettels every season, ferrari dont want him to win as he is paid 5 times less than golden steering wheel basher  :y

Agfreed. As he has got older he has slipped from a very exciting winner, who was always great to watch, to become the perfect number two driver.
