If you have an Omega, then you have the part numbers ::)

Not particularly helpfull DG - any particular reason. And actually i have 4 Omegas currently but wanted to get some solenoids in before i started taking the  door cards off.

Thanks Figureman52 I appreciate the input,  but I did actually mean the whole assembly.

That is a great guide  Eboy. Very well written and clea,r but would mean me getting desoldering pump etc as well and is all a bit fiddly / time consuming.

I'd rather buy some new ones if i can at reasonable money :http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/smf2000/Smileys/oofstd/thumbsup.gif

Anyone else got a fix on where i can get some?

Omega General Help / Drivers Door Solenoid not working
« on: 12 December 2019, 15:36:07 »
Hi All

The driver’s door central locking solenoids have gone on two of my 2003 V6 saloons. I brought some before, but can’t for the life of me remember where I got them and can’t find any trace of a likely transaction  (not sure whether a memory or stupidity issue  ).

Can someone please advise:
a)   where is it best to get them from currently?
b)   who the actual manufacturer is (ie. lucas,  bosch , siemens….. or whatever)?
c)   what the relevant part numbers are?
d)   whether they were fitted to any other common cars (ie other routes to availability)?
e)   are they handed or can same part be use for driver or passenger side?

I need at least 2 of them but may get a few more as I have had them go before.

Thanks M.
PS I did quickly look down other threads and Common Issues/ FAQs but couldn’t see answers.

Omega General Help / Keeping brake discs from going rusty
« on: 22 February 2018, 01:57:44 »
Any good tips for keeping brake discs from going rusty on cars that are left standing?
I have a number of vehicles inc 3 omagas which i alternate, which means that some are left standing.
It annoys me that even after a few weeks you can see rust on the discs through the alloys.

For obvious reasons, i am reluctant to WD40 them etc.......

Omega General Help / Gators for gear stick and handbrake
« on: 22 February 2018, 01:11:16 »
Any one know a good source for the black gators around gearstick and handbrake?
One of my 2003 V6s is very tidy (inside and out) apart from the gators which have semi perished and make it look its age.
I am actually after both manual and auto sets.

Thanks for all the replies & info Chaps.
Sorry it has taken a while to come back, family problems have meant that i have had a whole load of other sh*te to deal with.
Have sorted temp fix, but will probably purchase ETS parts as suggested. I just found their responses really annoying and very dissapointing.
Noted:   making sure for saloon & saving rubbber mounts.

Thanks again.

Thanks DG.  ...tosh: i thought that was the case. And have to say i was a bit dissappointed given all i had read about ETS on the forum
Do you know of anyone specific at ETS i should e speaking to?
I have had a quick look on ebay but there doesn't seem to be a twin pipe rear box for the later model saloons. They all seem to be pointing to 3.0  upto 99 models. Any chance of pointing me in the right direction?

Thanks M.

Hi Guys

I wonder if you can help.  I have seen a lot about exhausts on the forum and much said about contacting ETS / Eternal.

I am after a rear exhaust section for one of my 2003 Omega 2.6 v6 saloons.  As you are probably aware, the 2.6V6’s were fitted with single tail pipe back boxes from the factory, but I would prefer to fit a twin tail pipe back box as is on the 3.2V6s.   I believe there is no physical / mechanical difference at the joining section (ie where it joins the middle section) but I would like you to check this please.

Prior to posting I emailed ETS last night and oddly I have got the following message back “unfortunately we don't sell the part you are looking for”.   I have asked them to recheck as this doesn’t seem right from all that I have heard, and I was only emailing the general shop email address (which may have been picked up by a less knowledgeale admin person).

I also noticed on the ETS list of exhaust parts for Omegas, twin tail pipe boxes shown against late model 2.2 omegas, which can’t be right.  I don’t think any 2.2s were ever produced with twin tail pipe back boxes. Have they just got their listings wrong.

Any thoughts?
Any specific contacts at ETS I should speak to?
Or other providers I can try?

Thanks for your help.  M.

Very nice looking motor. I also like the de-badged look.
Not a big fan of Silver (breaking one currently), as i think the darker colours suit shape better (personal preference) , but that looks a very neat package indeed!
Where are the wheels from? And are this still available?

Hello All,

I went ahead and posted a problem before saying hello which was remiss of me - Apologies.  And posted in wrong place to add insult to injury! - sorry Kevin.

Great to have found the forum and so many Omega enthusiasts. I think i did come across the forum briefly some years back, when i was looking for something, but the extent of the forum didn't really register :(   Having looked a lot more, it is truly amazing to see all the effort that has gone in to the guides  / information available and the breadth of knowledge !

I have had  a number of omegas over last 20 years and currently have three.

03 2.6 V6 CD Saloon &  03 2.6 V6 CDX saloon   both tidy and relatively low mileage
Plus a 03 V4 2.2 CD saloon (silver good bodywork) -  Was running, but cam belt snapped now donor car / breaking - let me know if there is anything you need.
Also been looking for a decent low mileage late (03 or 04) 3.2 V6 saloon in black (possibly blue (not such a fan of silver)) for some time now.

I am not a mechanic by trade or necessarily the best DIYer, but i do have some knowledge, a lot of owner side experience and an engineering background, so I hope to be able to contribute in some small way.

Keep up the great work and i look forward to being more involved.
Thanks to all who have contributed.

Mark.

Admin edit: Phone number removed.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your helpful comments.

"crank" not "cam",  yeah i did know,  sorry i was rushing.  Put it down to excitement on finding the forum!

I got it done and the lucas part (actually stamped Siemens) does seem to be doing the job.  Initially idled a bit lumpy but on several restarts and making sure it was full tightened (might have been a millimetre or so off fully in initially). Although i have to say that i am also an advocate of GM parts and would have used one if i could of got hold of one quickly.

Main problem was access -  unless you have very small hands it is an absolute nightmare and still difficult even with the scuttle panel removed.  Easy change if engine is out of car as with guide - although guide was useful to see location of connector.

Zirk - good point about connecting up first and then worrying about removal.

BazzaJT - thanks for nod to guides.  I had appreciated that there was so much available.

Essex Big Al - thanks for the phone support much appreciated.  See **

The real sh*t was that in leaning over the engine bay to replace scuttle panels i dropped my phone and broke it (awaiting new one).  Hoping desperately that i will still be able to get my numbers transferred across.

Thanks again Guys.  :)

Mark.

**  Essex Big Al - note i may have lost your number if can't recover from old phone.  Please txt me at end of week so we can stay in touch and discuss the bits you wanted.
