Afternoon all,

I have a 2002 ‘02’ Z157 Star Silver 3.2 Elite estate, the engine and gearbox have been removed.

All parts available except the engine and gearbox, windscreen and tailgate glass.

To stick to the forum rules, and to benefit everyone, some prices are as follows:

(I am quite out of touch with Omega parts prices now, so if you think something is too much, I’m not going to be offended if you say so)

17” Elite 5 spoke alloy wheels (tread depth and tyre make to be confirmed) - £100

Complete front bumper with headlight washers, fogs etc - £40

Rear bumper with original parkpilot sensors - £40

Both door mirrors - £50

x4 doors complete, all locking motors work, with door cards - £60

NCDC 2013 and GID - £65 (I know this works) I will also supply approx 4 other units of unknown condition or functionality.

Headlights - £30 each

Rear lights - £15 each

Bonnet (without grille) - £30

Complete Elite Black leather interior - £75 (can also supply door cards FOC, as I have surplus)

Anything else, please ask in this thread and I’ll respond with a price.

If you want a complete vehicle, with the above mentioned engine, box and glass removed let me know.

Location - 5 miles from Oxford, above prices exclude postage which can be arranged at cost for practical to send items. There is adequate space here should you want to remove parts yourself, with a suitable discount for doing so.

Pictures will be uploaded soon.

General Car Chat / 19k mile 2001 Omega Elite
« on: 25 June 2020, 17:10:23 »
This popped up on BCA whilst I was looking through for something!
Basic details, 2001 2.6 Elite saloon in the rather nasty gold colour, however with a warranted 19k miles with 10 service stamps and MOT history to confirm mileage.

Available tomorrow at BCA Bridgwater, although no physical sales are happening it will be offered online. Also worth noting, the vendor is UKCGR which is WeBuyAnyCar who is owned by BCA.

There is no guide price currently, but I would think it will achieve £1,500-£2,000 fairly easily.

Meetings, gatherings, parties etc / Oxford Meet 2017
« on: 06 June 2017, 18:34:17 »
It's been a long time since a proper Oxford meet has happened, hopefully we'll change that  :y

Today, I came across the following place;

http://thisisyourgarage.com/about/workshop/?doing_wp_cron=1496769981.5693159103393554687500

It is effectively a rent by the hour workshop, equipped with 2 and 4 post lifts, tools etc. Week day rental of £15p/hr or £20p/hr at weekends.

I must stress, I've never been here before, nor know anything of it. But, I thought it could be a great place for a meet, and get some work done  :y

If there's any interest I'll go over one day and take a look, and see what they could do for us if we booked a few bays one day. I'll take my vehicle and give a bay a go  ;D

Cars for Sale & wanted / F/S 2002 '52' 3.2 V6 Special Saloon Auto Blue
« on: 29 September 2016, 12:28:18 »
'WV52 FPX' is a Vauxhall Omega 3.2 V6 Special Auto saloon, presented in Nocturno Blue (Z20H) with texas dark cloth interior.

It has covered 191,865 miles from new, with a comprehensive history.

Naturally, being a V6 Special, it used to be a police vehicle. It served with Avon & Somerset.

The vehicle was purchased within the last few months for a client, but is no longer required.

It was purchased for £500, requiring mechanical work. A total of £1,872.68 was spent in August this year @ 191,765 miles. It has covered 100 miles since.

The work is detailed below in a copy of the invoice.

I now seek to sell the vehicle, naturally the total outlay of £2,372.68 is not sought. I would however ask £1,500 with offers considered.

Interior;

Very nice, one of the better ex police I've seen. Has a standard Omega radio/CD fitted. CDR 2005 from memory.

Exterior;

Typical ex police, bashed, scuffed and scratched. I will upload pictures ASAP, it's not unsightly, but it's not a show vehicle.

MOT - 4th of August 2017 (no avisories)
VED - Vehicle tax is no longer transferable

I'm unsure if this is a genuine Irmscher grill. From memory, I think they only did one with the chrome surround, this one has a black surround.

Happy to take advice on genuine v repro on this.

Looking for £35 inc postage

6
As above, I have a genuine Irmscher front bumper suitable for the facelift Omega.

It is painted in Z20R (Black Sapphire Metallic) in a very nice condition. It comes complete with fog lamps and grills.

I will upload more detailed pictures later.

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Facelift front bumper wanted
« on: 16 August 2016, 21:07:47 »
As above please, I'm after a facelift front bumper, with holes for headlight washers, so from a CDX or Elite.

I'm looking for the standard bumper, so not from a Sport or MV6 please.

If it was in Z20R (Black) that'd be great, but can be painted if not  :y

General Discussion Area / Possible OOF courier request
« on: 04 August 2016, 12:21:06 »
I'm likely to need to get x4 20'' Range Rover wheels from 'Choppington', which is between Newcastle and Morpeth down towards Oxford. Anywhere that's nearer than Newcastle is ideal!

Can anyone help? Naturally beer/fuel/time money available!  :y

General Car Chat / Auction Omega's
« on: 16 March 2016, 13:36:43 »
I've had a few people PM me about buying Omega's from auctions, what's out there etc.

This thread really only serves to highlight Omega's of any note coming through British Car Auctions (BCA)

I'll add posts when new vehicles are listed.

...what have I missed?

STEMO bought an orange Dacia or something equally as ghastly?

A little preface is necessary, this vehicle is currently fitted with operational blue lights/emergency equipment. Any sale will be dealt with very carefully, and adhering to various ACPO guidelines and rules.

This vehicle can be offered without any police equipment, as a standard vehicle if desired.

'OV03 LJL' is a Vauxhall Omega 3.2 V6 Special Manual saloon, presented in Black Sapphire Metallic (Z20R) with 'texas' grey cloth interior.

It was registered on the 1st of May 2003 and has covered 140,021 miles from new.

When new, it served with Thames Valley Police, as a Roads Policing pro-active unit. It was based at Three Mile Cross (Reading)
It was featured on Sky TV's Road Wars. When in service, it wore the ghost plates 'GM03 HYU'. Fuel card holder present with this registration.
It was used by Rosie and Daz, in the mid to later RW episodes.

I acquired the vehicle directly from TVP in late 2010, I then sold it, and took it back in P/X in mid 2012.

Over the past three years the vehicle has had a lot of money spent on it, restoring it back to as it was in service, alongside regular maintenance and improvements.

Police spec;
Whelen 500 series grille mounted strobes, with strobe power supply
Fend off front bumper mounted whelen 500 series blue LED with clear lenses
Whelen Alpha Siren, horn ring incorporated with wail, yelp and piercer tone
Rear head rest mounted whelen 500 series blue LED with clear lenses
Rear parcel shelf mounted LED flip matrix sign 'POLICE / STOP'
Correct 6 roof mounted antenna
TSS Autovision ANPR System with speed enforecement and windscreen mounted camera
ANPR in-vehicle keyboard
Cleartone CM9000 Tetra Police Radio with correct telephone style handset and cradle
Maglite torch with mounted holder

Maintenance;
Full police history to 115,000 miles. Sold at 115, came back in at 126,000 miles.
In my ownership it has had;
Full cambelt kit, water pump with aux belt and tensioner fitted by Daz, mileage 137,000 approx 8 months ago. Exact mileage and date TBC, but Daz can confirm
New clutch at 135,000 fitted by Al
New air con condenser, HP and LP valve - Air con works
Full service, oil, filters, plugs, etc x2
Paintwork - Photo's of paintwork will be uploaded, but it had extensive paintwork. This vehicle has been displayed at numerous shows, so needed to look presentable.

It now even features in a PC Game - Grand Theft Auto 4, see youtube link;
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqqTg9fqxP4

MOT - None currently, will be supplied with a full MOT
VED - No longer transferable

Generates enormous interest at shows, even more so than the marked police vehicle I have. This is to be replaced by a younger 2012 vehicle. Interior photo's will be uploaded tomorrow!

£2,500 with police equip
LED sign is worth approx £500 on its own, some of the prices are crazy!

General Car Chat / Guide to the L322 Range Rover
« on: 07 June 2015, 13:57:50 »
This is to serve as a quick guide to the L322 Range Rover (2002-2012)

It will be broken down into 3 posts covering the 2002-2005, 2005-2009, 2010+ models

2002-2005

The L322 was introduced in 2002, press vehicles are available on the ‘51’ plate, all standard ordered vehicles are ‘02’ onwards.

Engines
At this time Land Rover was BMW owned, hence the vast use of BMW parts and engines.

4.4 V8—282 BHP, 0-60 8.1 seconds.
If looked after a very good engine, but neglect will cause issues with the cooling systems and timing chains (vanos unit)
With a 100 litre fuel tank, you’re likely to see 400 miles range. Water pumps were originally plastic, can be upgraded to a metal type. Breather hoses to be changed every 50,000. Service parts cheap, easy to find.
If looked after, will do high mileage, I had one with 232,000 on original engine. However, had one with 70,000 that had been neglected and needed timing chain work. Common faults, are PCV hoses cracked leading to poor MPG, rear coolant hose above gearbox can split causing severe coolant loss. Head gasket faults only really occur with neglect, not a ‘common’ fault.
If I were buying an unknown 4.4 V8 to keep, I would change the water pump and radiator, all breather hoses and ensure regular oil changes.

3.0 TD6—179BHP, 0-60 12.7 seconds
A very reliable unit, uncommon to see issues. Turbo failiure’s are no more frequent than any other diesel engine. I know someone who breaks L322’s, and he has a massive stock of TD6 engines, as he says they never seem to go wrong. There is no DPF. Regular oil services will keep it performing well. Not a fast vehicle though! Tuning/chips available, and do make a big difference, but gearbox considerations need to be made...more to follow on that.

Gearbox—Different gearbox in pertrol and diesel, both 5 speed.
Generally speaking in the V8, not many issues, if the main radiator lower fins are clogged weith sediment it will causes issues for the transmission cooler. ‘Overheat transmission’ may appear on the dash.
The TD6’s gearbox will never last the life of the vehicle, sadly this is a fact! They’ll do anywhere between 90,000—120,000 miles
Budget £2,000 for replacement / recondition. If I were buying a TD6 to keep, I would buy one that’s already had one, or budget for a £2k spend. That is the TD6’s weakness.

General

Air Suspension, A much improved system over the P38. Front airbag units cost circa £220 each side, rear bags are cheap and never really fail. Compressor lives under spare wheel in rear boot floor. Around £250 to replace.

Audio—On the 2002-2005 model’s, a BMW unit is used, not a bad system. The Sat Nav is non post code and non touch screen. You can update the standard Sat Nav computer from the MK3 to MK4 BMW unit, giving you post code and 3d map function.
All of the audio units live in the N/S/R boot compartment . Amp, sat nav, TV etc. This area can be subject to water ingress. This kills the units. So always check this area for water ingress, as replacement units are costly.

Wing mirrors, fold flat function...over time they become lose and flap around somewhat.
Interior, hard wearing roubst design.

Specification

At this age the following three are available;
SE, HSE, Vogue

SE– No one ever bought one, came with nothing really. Best avoided!

HSE—Xenon’s, 6 cd changer and radio, parking sensors, unique HSE style seats, 18’’ alloys

Vogue—Above HSE spec comes with Sat Nav, sunroof, heated seats front and rear, heated steering wheel, leather dash top, unique Vogue seats which are far more comfortable and have better adjustment. 19’’ alloys, all specs have full size spares. Even the 20’’ wheel option has a full size spare.

To identify a 2002-2005 model, look for square headlights with headlight wipers. Rear light units will be amber to the top and red to the lower part.

Prices start at £2,600 for a something needing work, but £4,500 - £5,500 will get you a 2002/2003 in reasonable/good order.

General Car Chat / Interesting auction vehicles...
« on: 11 April 2015, 18:17:55 »
Brightwells in Leominster, hold vehicle auctions, re-selling run of the mill, police, and 4x4 vehicles.

But, I thought some may be interested to see an auction disposing of ex museum cars;

And especially for TB, here's a lovely old Rover with just under 7,000 miles...

General Discussion Area / OOF Courier - Sheffield
« on: 25 March 2015, 20:18:08 »
It's not so much of a courier, just holding an item.

I need to buy a 20'' wheel with tyre from 'Halfway' near Sheffield.

Are there any kind souls near that could collect it? Naturally in return for some beer money!

If it can find it's way South, that's great...but I certainly can collect, just not for the next few weeks  :y
