Hi
As I would prefer my Estate would go to an enthusiast, I am dropping the price to just £195. This now includes a brand new battery fitted a couple of weeks ago (not covered in the previous description).

Here is the original post. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=138768.0

Thanks Pat

A top of the range, full spec Omega Elite. One driver from new. MOT till June, a great opportunity for a enthusiast.

There are a few photos below, but you can see more here http://www.themccanns.myzen.co.uk/Index.html

Overview
I've had this car since new. It was my company car for two years, then when I took early retirement, I bought the car. It was serviced at an authorised Vauxhall dealer for the first few years, then I found the forum and started to maintain it myself. I've kept a history of work.

It is still used, albeit infrequently (usually when I need to carry two or three sets of golf clubs!), and is MOT'd until June. The wheels were professionally refurbished not too long ago. I have also just recently fitted a new petrol tank cover plate.

The car would be an ideal purchase for someone who is looking for a top of the range model and has the time and the skills to bring it back up to its former glory.

Included with the car are a number of accessories

Specification
Model: Elite Estate
First Registered: June 2000
Colour : Silver
Engine 2.5L V6 Petrol
Automatic Gearbox
Electric Windows
Electric Sunroof
Heated seats (front and rear)
Electrically adjusted seats
Memory for drivers seat, wing & rear view mirrors,
Bose Sound System
Colour Sat. Nav.
17" Alloy Wheels
Mileage - 176K

Accessories
The following accessories are included in the sale.

Roof Bars
Luggage restraint net
Cam Belt Tools (Sykes-Pickavant) and DVD
Spare Breather box and pipes
2 oil filters
Petrol Filter

Condition
The car is very reliable and runs smoothly apart from an exhaust tailpipe that needs adjusting (catches the body at the rear and rattles). The 17" Alloy wheels look like new. I've converted the self levelling suspension to standard dampers.

The car is 16 years old, and as such, has some of the well known age related issues for this model.

The Sat Nav exhibits 'lag' when reading the map disk, I suspect the laser has deteriorated.

Paintwork. This is not a 'concourse' or 'showroom' model, it has all the usual chips and scratches of a 'working' car.

Rust. There is some rust on the two rear wheel arches, including some on the inside of the rear NS (when the door is opened). There is also some rust on the tailgate. I have taken pictures of the rust area's, check them out in the gallery here http://www.themccanns.myzen.co.uk/Index.html.

Price - Offers in the region of £450 (includes accessories). Please PM me if you have any queries.

Thanks Pat

No, not the Peter Cook / Dudley Moore song, But the time has come for me to part with my Elite Estate.

I've had it for 16 years (175K miles), since new. Its been, in chronological order, A company car, a family car, a hauler of large 'stuff' and for the last two years, the only car I have that I can get 2/3 golfers in with all our kit for away games, even though it only got used 5 times a year!

Its also been a 'hobby' in the past, when thanks to this forum, I upgraded my car maintenance knowledge from the '4 plugs and a distributor' tech of my Hillman Minx, to the multiple ECU complexity of the modern car technology. I even bought a  Sealy timing belt tool and Marks DVD, probably the zenith of my maintenance experience! (apart from my sourcing and replacement of the colour sat Nav display - pretty sure I did a 'how to' on that somewhere?)

It is, however, succumbing to the ravages of time, with rust in the usual places and the final straw, a slight weep from the petrol tank. The shame is, its not long since I had a professional refurbish of the alloy wheels,.

Ah well, all good things come to an end. However, as it still has 9 months MOT, when I get time I'll probably advertise it on the forum / eBay as a cheap runner, project / donor car. Who knows, it may even 'live on'

and yes, I will stay on the forum. I'm more of a lurker these days, but don't want to miss any of STEMO's 'nuggets'.

Hi
I have a genuine 2006/7 cd but its scratched to hell. I've just cleaned my laser lens which has improved operation 10 fold but its still laggy which I'm guessing is the state of the CD. Anybody have similar year or later genuine one for sale?

Thanks Pat

Omega General Help / Rear Center Seatbelt sticking
« on: 03 June 2013, 16:43:59 »
Thanks to Ex Taxi AL for his 'how to' to remove examine etc. the centre rear seatbelt mechanism. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90672.0 Made it much easier for me to tackle this in a hurry. All sorted now, following an MOT failure.

Al, you may want to add a sentence at the beginning saying "the problem may be due to the cable interlock, rather than the mechanism, if so try some spray white lithium grease down the button that releases the seat back and around the seat back lock area" as this was the problem in my case. I removed the seatbelt mechanism and checked it all out but to no avail, I then realised the button on the seat back wasn't returning fully, and therefore, wasn't pulling the interlock cable fully back.

Thanks again, Pat

(BTW, if you only want to check out the mechanism, you don't really need to remove the seat fob and retaining bolt, as you can work on it in situ)

General Discussion Area / Fantastic engineering skills

Building a minature V12 Engine (on the kitchen table no less! - understanding wife)

This, to me, is a thing of beauty, as much as any piece of art. Absolutely fantastic skills. If only we nurtured similar skills in the UK, but unfortunately, the UK does not recognise or reward real engineers / engineering.

Just tried to look for an UK update for my Sat Nav (previously I've updated about every 3 years), and it 'appears' that Navteq no longer do UK only, but just an 8 CD European set for £180 ish. Whilst that may be better value for money per Cd, it isn't if you don't plan going abroad. I've sent Navteq a question but was just wondering what other OOFers recent experience is on this?

Hi all. I have a NCDC 2013 and it has been spitting the Sat Nav disc out until 'warmed up' for about a year now (Common fault). I finally purchased a replacement laser unit as per this thread http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1291909507. I attempted to fit this week, but after opening up the Radio Unit I realised I needed more time, so aborted for now BUT, whilst I had the top cover off I took the opportunity to clean the laser lens with a damp cotton bud. It was definitely dusty / dirty. Since refitting the Radio Unit my 'spitting problems' have gone away! So it 'may be' that a simple lens clean may hep you.

To do it, remove the Radio unit as per the maintence guide. Remove the two screws holding the outer cover to the top CD unit, lift up and remove. Remove the four smaller screws (at each corner) of the inner CD mechanism and lift from the left (looking from the front) about two inches (being careful not to damage the flat ribbon cable on the opposite side). Prop the lid up with something then , using a damp cotton bud, gently wipe the lense surface followed by a dry wipe with the other end of the bud. Reverese the above procedure to replace covers / Radio and keep your fingers crossed! Good Luck.

I will not change the lens unit unless it fails again, but if I do, I will create a maintenance guide for it.

Hi All
I have some rust appearing up in the join area between the top of the tailgate and the spoiler. I'm having someone look at doing some paintwork on the car and I'm sure they will want the spoiler removed to get at it. Has anyone removed the spoiler on a facelift? If so, how do i go about it please?

Thanks Pat.

Omega General Help / Oil leak - probably rear crankshaft seal
« on: 01 April 2009, 09:40:29 »
Hi All
I have developed an oil leak at the rear of the engine with drips from the engine to gearbox area. Although its an auto, it is definitely engine oil and I'm 99% convinced its the rear crankshaft oil seal. (and its definitley not cam covers and my breathers are clear).

I've done 155K and she is 8.5 years old. I've seen just a few threads with suspect crankshaft oil seal problems, but unfortunately they are not complete, so no resolution is recorded. My question is, have many others experienced this? Is there any wise words of wisdom on this problem? or am I , as I suspect from the lack of threads, one of a few with this problem?

Thanks Pat

Hi All
I seem to have two different GM part numbers for spark plugs in my old invoices. 91132006 and 9195109. I think I 'may' have got one of the numbers from the forum (Omega parts Pricing (WIP) - but that is currently not available. Can anyone enlighten me what the difference is between these two parts, and which is correct one for my model please?
