Omega General Help / Re: Plug sticks don't fail. do they?

The op will take the cheapest of cheap route, so that be a s/h set of plugs, then bake them in the oven.  ;D

I could use the spark plug cleaner and tester at work on mine, but even though we've a car plug adapter for it, life is too short. £12 on some new NGKs and it's good for another couple of years.

would that be the type that grit blasts them, then you clean them off with wire brush.

That's the one, you then use it to check the quality of the spark under pressure. The machine is about £1500,  but is a waste of time on car plugs. New ones every time.

lord alone knows how you end up there on a relatively straight road with no other traffic involved   :-X :y

It is a particularly fast and tricky bend as you pass Tramways. It's even worse if the N/S brake pad falls out and tears the valve out of the wheel when you try to slow down, but that has nothing to do with this crash ;D

The hoofers may try to arrange an Easter curry night. :y

Easter is quite late in 2017, so there might be time for a practice :y

Also with the 2.6 use superunleaded petrol, not the cheaper stuff....

I've some snake oil he could rub on the OSR tyre valve that's guaranteed to cure all misfires and bring about world peace.

Remove both packs, remove all plugs, replace all plugs with NEW, clean coil pack sleeves,
Don't use petrol use carb/brake cleaner. If fault re-appears, then coil pack at fault.

This.

Plugs don't like being soaked in oil, and at £2 each plus the faffing about changing them are not worth trying to save.
Petrol is not a good degreaser; brake cleaner is about £2 a can at ECP and is a much better bet for small jobs. DIY use means even a small can is good value. For large or really dirty parts, I scrape the worst off, then use cheap cellulose thinners in a washing bowl/old bucket/whatever container and a couple of scrubbing brushes from Poundland.

I grew up listening to Quo and loved them, even though, as Parfitt admitted, every song sounded the same.

They won't now the band is short a 'singer'

Are you telling us that a bmw idler is the same as omega one.?

No, just that I found the price difference for a very similar part surprising. When I bought one for my 525 there was about £12 difference between an unbranded bush and a Lemforder arm. Which at less than £25 was the only sensible option.

Bargain Nick...if you need a steering idler I have a brand new Lemforder here which is your FOC when you are passing and my car is on driveway.

Thanks but I replaced mine some time ago, unnecessarily as it was the centre trackrod that was knackered. I was surprised at the time that the bush wasn't available separately, and that the whole idler was so expensive - BMW ones are so close in price it isn't worth buying just the bush and faffing about with the press.

Although it still beats aircraft prices; it was only after I fitted the Cherokee ignition switch that she told me it cost £600 :o :o

Well done :y

Re ATP, I use them for various parts, and have no complaints with either the parts or the prices ;)

Buy the fronts from them too and you'll save the postage...

At €78 for all four springs, I shall be getting them. I'll be adding some new tailgate gas springs to the order, along with a heater matrix(as mine gets warm, but not particularly hot) for €16. That lot comes to £90 delivered, which is crazy.

Lemforder steering idler bush(which I don't need, and don't believe is the problem it's made out to be) is €16 :o which is much more like BMW prices.

Seem a bargain if you can speak the lingo ?? to be sure what you are getting is correct

Got my front set from AGP ,think around £35 each

Full time employment than ? :y

Yes, the fronts are the same as a saloon, and are easy to find. The estate rears seem to vary a lot in price

The job has been casual for the last 10 weeks, but it looks like it could be permanent if I want it. Which suggests I haven't oppsed up anything too badly :y

I promised myself that when I had some money coming in, I'd replace all four tired springs on my car. That time has come, so does anyone have any suggestions where I source them for sensible money, and not the £300 each that ECP are currently listing them?

They're for a 3.0l estate which has working self-levelling(that I intend to keep), but I think some non S/L springs would be a good idea and a lot easier to find. These seem a little too good to be true though:  LINK
