General Discussion Area / Serious advice please
« on: 26 April 2013, 12:04:33 »
I've been unemployed for quite a while and even though i've had some quite good jobs over the years i'm finding it difficult to get a job.

Anyway, yesterday I was offered a temporary job start Monday which is 2 miles down the road and it's a minimum 2 months work, dead laidback and job and jack with full pay. Today i've had a phone call asking me to go for an interview for another temporary job which is a minimum of 6 months work, similiar wage but 11 miles away and 8am til 4 pm Monday to Friday.

Would you risk upsetting a new boss with a request for a morning off to go for an interview?

I think I know already what i'm going to do but just thought i'd get some advice.

TIA :y

« on: 18 April 2013, 13:48:58 »
I'm having a clearout of all my useless bits that are only fit for the bin.

Five 10 amp fuses, all blown £50 plus delivery.

One reversing light bulb, also blown £50 plus delivery.

One bag of Tesco fumes, came out of a 2.5 V6 £50 plus delivery.

Might part exchange but would prefer to sell to a mug for cash ::)

General Car Chat / Facelift Irmscher front bumper
« on: 28 March 2013, 13:18:22 »
I've got one fitted to the front of Mels diesel but she's not getting on with it too well so i'm considering selling it before she smashes it to pieces. I'll be listing it on Ebay but don't know what reserve to put on it as they don't come up to often. I nearly sold the Steinmetz rear window spoiler for £50 but decided to let the auction run and it sold for an eye watering £270 and yes thats £270 and not an error :o :o

So what is a reasonable price/reserve?

TIA

Took a couple of diesel cats to be weighed in to a new place a week yesterday and was told they would call me with a price in a few days. Anyway i've been a bit busy so forgot all about them until yesterday so I though I haven't heard off them so i'll give them a call. Spoke to a young lady and explained I had dropped off 2 diesel cats and 2 pre cats a week ago and I was supposed to have a call within a few days to tell me what they're worth. Young lady sounded in the dark but took my number and said she would call me back. So no call back yesterday and I was out early today so called back this afternoon and spoke to the young lady again to which she replied oh yeah, well give you £18 each for the cats and £8 each for the pre cats :o The last diesel cat I took in to a scrapyard in Wrexham was 4 weeks ago off a diesel pug and I got £40 for one. So I said forget it i'll have them back and take them to my usual place in Wrexham, the phone went quiet but I could hear her mumbling to someone, she came back on the phone to say sorry but your cats have already gone, how do you want paying >:(

Think my bum will be sore from this one for a while :'(

Cars for Sale & wanted / For Sale 3.2 Elite £550
« on: 07 March 2013, 14:18:59 »
I bought this Elite saloon in November with a view to breaking it because of all the goodies on it but after driving it home I decided it's to good the break.

The car is well known on the forum and has been very well looked after. It has been fitted with Bilstein shocks and Irmscher springs all around, it has a stainless steel exhaust and tinted rear windows. There are all the usual Elite goodies including a Sat Nav NCDC2013 with GID which works perfectly and has a proper disc. The grey leather seats have been replaced with cloth MV6 seat by the previous owner but he left the door cards and bottom of the dash in light grey which didn't look right so i've just spent the time replacing the door cards with dark Elite leather ones and the bottom of the dash and glove box have been replaced with the dark grey bits and i've also replaced the radiator with a brand new one because the old one had a slow leak. The car is MOT'd until December 6th 2013 but i'll be cashing in the tax which is until the end of July but you can buy that for an extra £90.

There are loads of reciepts in the folder for things like a gearbox service with new oil and filter and there's also a rolling road read out which shows 245BHP but I don't know if the cars been remapped or not. The car does drive really well and the gears change very smoothly and I also know that all the ECUs have the latest upgrade.

There are a couple of things that need sorting. The key only opens the doors with the remote so will need repairing. I replaced a rear door solenoid so all doors open and close together. There is a scap on the drivers side rear door which is common on the Omegas but the arches seem ok. There are codes 0420 and 0430 present which again are common on the 3.2 but this doesn't effect the way the car drives, it's explained here and is easily sorted http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90613.0
Mileage is 224,000 and rising but don't let that put you off, this is a really nice drive, very smooth and I think quite cheap which is why i'm going to say if you don't want to pay £550 then look elsewhere and don't bother me with offers. I paid £450 for it with a few days MOT left because I knew that I could sell the suspension, exhaust, wheels and NCDC2013 for more than the £550 i'm asking plus i've bought a new rad and had it MOT'd. Sorry if I sound a bit sharp but it's a hell of a car for the money

Oh yeah forgot to add. It has the silver surround, ashtray and bit under the handbrake from an MV6 but I have the bits in shiney wood effect to match the door trims :y
