General Discussion Area / Terry Paget
« on: 03 May 2021, 11:57:47 »
I received the following sad new last night:
Hello Dr. Gollum. I,m sorry to tell you that Terry has died after being ill for a couple of months.
The Forum was so important to him. So thanks for being there. There are various Omega parts, but I couldn't tell you what. My email address is xxxx*, if anyone is interested in having a look.
Terry's wife, Tricia Paget
If anyone was determined to try and fix something, it was Terry. An affable chap who would always try to help where he could and a pleasure to have met him at the meets he attended.
I have removed Tricia's e-mail address from this quote to deter bots, but I have forwarded the message to the Admin team should anyone be wish to contact her.

General Discussion Area / Good old Egay sellers/Amazon
« on: 12 March 2021, 02:47:24 »
Apparently Amazon aren't making enough money so they have started competing with actual delivery companies and are shipping ebay orders
Ordered a couple of tools from a business seller on ebay and was surprised to see Amazon as the shipper. Suffice to say they failed to deliver the item two days running, yesterday at 1506 and today at 2247 (I was in both times, so that's clearly BS), and decided that the items are now undeliverable. WTF Even Hermes and Don't Handle Logistics can deliver within two attempts.
Not sure if the issue is with the seller using Amazon to fulfil the order to save a couple of quid, or if Amazon are as incompetent as Yodel it's 50/50... (And/or the driver can't read addresses) but suffice to say that if you leave the depot at 1215 with a couple of hundred drops, you probably aren't going to finish before the 2200 cut off

General Car Chat / Aircon regas Q
« on: 07 March 2021, 22:46:44 »
The Barge needs its aircon regassing, and according to MB, it requires extra PAG 46 oil added for each component replaced...
20ml for the drier and 10ml for the expansion valve. It also suggests an amount for each line replaced. The lines haven't been replaced but the seals have. Which I suspect amounts to the same thing
The question being, can the regas machine adjust the amount of oil added?
The low pressure return to the compressor has an easily accessible joint to add additional oil. I do have some as I bought a can for lubricating the fresh seals.
