Ive read the guide for fixing the microswitch doofer... And I think its well beyond my level of fiddlability. (If it can't be fixed with a hammer...).

So anyone got a motor they would sell me for not too many beer tokens? 2003 FL (and another one for a 2002 FL, if theres one going?)

General Car Chat / Silver MV6 in Wolviston?
« on: 11 November 2019, 13:46:39 »
Just getting in my FTO at Wolviston and heard a lovely looking silver (of course) MV6 rolling down the high street... One of ours?

I thought I had the only MV6 in the area!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / ICE upgrades
« on: 16 October 2019, 12:19:28 »
Disclaimer - I am nine years old.

I've currently got the interior of Zeke out as he's in to get welded in a couple of weeks time. I got to thinking, as he's an ex-plod and has already been messed about with a fair amount... what can I do to make it better as it goes back together.

I was looking firstly at the rear shelf - can I fit a pair of 8" subwoofers in or under the back shelf? Or do I need to go down to 6" (fnarr)?

Then I was looking at the rear footwell - could I pop a couple of holes in the panel where one's passengers' calves would be and put a speaker in each? Intending to pop a tweeter in each C-pillar to boot.

I'll certainly be upgrading the existing speakers, to go with the already fitted head unit... but I like to make noise and I rarely carry passengers so don't care about deafening anyone...

General Car Chat / Another year's ticket on the ex plod
« on: 02 October 2019, 13:03:20 »
 :y

Been off the road for three months while I've been playing with the new one (vRS Skoda, since you ask). Went to tax the ex plod yesterday, online, and got a message "terribly sorry old chum, it appears you've forgotten the yearly health check".
Booked in this morning, pass with an advisory on the steering idler, just starting to show wear.

Bloody glad it passed, only 2.5k miles last year and the one before...

Its in with the Wizard for rear arches at the end of this month, then my winter project is getting it all nice and tidy inside and out. Bit of paint, few bits of trim and the like. 181k miles young!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear door speakers
« on: 14 April 2019, 17:33:42 »
I've just been ripping one of the interiors out ready for some welding. It struck me that there's no large speakers in the rear door card. Being ex-plod, not unexpected. But then my ex-demo MV6 doesn't have any either. Was it a cost option on the FL cars? Or am I losing my marbles?

*I am between night shifts and not quite firing on all six, so if it's really obvious, feel free to take the piss. With photos.

(Since the carpets are already out, I think it would be rude not to put a baseball cap-loosening amount of sound equipment in...)

Been with them for ages now, and theyve sent me a link that if you sign up, you and I both get £100 for the pleasure.

If anyone would like... Then I'll unashamedly have a bit more cash for moving house with :D

If anyone has a cheap pair of the above, untorn, that would be brilliant, just to help finish my interior off on the Special...!

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Pair of 16" CD alloys
« on: 22 August 2018, 20:20:56 »
Two CD five-spoke alloys.

One is in reasonable nick and the tyre has perhaps 2-3mm across the tread, maximum. It is a Kumho, but it definitely needs replacing very very soon.

The other is to put it bluntly, scabby but usable. It has a scab of paint missing around the valve area, along with various other marks. The tyre is also a Kumho, but best described as "barely legal". Stop sniggering at the back.

£10 each, collected, before I go mad and start making them into furniture I don't need. :y

"Fuchs 90LS (90 LS) Gear/Axle/Differential/Limited Slip/LSD Oil" to give it the full title. Bought 2 one litre bottles and ended up needing 1.05 litres to fill my diff up.

As a result, to save anyone buying two full litres to fill theirs, I'll send the remainder for £6 posted. If it's any use to anyone, before it sits on my garage shelf of usefulness.

General Discussion Area / Thank you again, OOF!
« on: 22 August 2018, 20:11:25 »
I know I'm not on here anywhere near as much as I used to be, but just a massive thank you again. Especially to Fuse 19, for the guide to changing the diff oil. Without that I would have had no idea how to do it! :y The ex-plod is nearly back on the road!

General Car Chat / Honda Civic ABS sensor wiring
« on: 07 August 2018, 18:18:20 »
Mate has a 2005 Civic. Due to a hamfisted idiot, it needs a new ABS sensor. The one Ive got has a totally different plug, but matches every single lookup on the interweb.
Can I chop the wires and solder or crimp them together? And does it make a difference which one I connect to which? I assume so since they are different colours...

I don't do electrics. Give me cogs any day...!

Just trying to make space in the shed, so here's a few bits I have...

Pair of orange side repeaters (with bulbs!) - £2 plus postage
Pair of Meyle rear damper rubbers, part 614 742 000 - as seen https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meyle-Rear-Upper-Suspension-Bump-Stop-Rubber-Buffer-614-742-0000/291620019283?epid=5008196412&hash=item43e5e85c53:g:UmEAAOSwlV9WTb8o - £5 plus postage
Random wire and connector, GM ZF12-9 - no idea what it's for but it's in my box of spares. 50p plus postage.
Coil pack sealing rubber - for DBW cars - £1 plus postage.

I'd rather stick them up here than bin them!

104
As above. Before I start trying to use epoxy on the old one, and thus end up in casualty, anyone got one of the above they'd be willing to post for not too many pennies? :D

Omega General Help / Manifold heatshields, O/S, 3.2 V6
« on: 21 July 2018, 18:39:13 »
I'm having a whale of a time getting in to change my manifold gasket. However, I am either being blind, stupid, or both, as I can't see how to remove the lower of the manifold heatshields. Do I need to get the car back up in the air?

(Currently having an extended coffee break, having snapped some stupid brittle plastic valve, then thrown my toys well and truly out of the pram...!)
