Thanks for all of your pension-saving suggestions, gents!
Whilst I'm at it, I have it in mind to do a good flush and I recall a thread on here regarding dish washer tablets/fluid? Can you refresh my fading memory and tell me which were the recommended products, please?
Oh, I've never had to drain the radiator before, so I'm not sure where the drain cock is.....?

I found this:-

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-equipment/garage-essentials/laser-oil-drip-tray-22-5-x-14-5

But it still seems a bit tall and is only 5 litres - and dearer than Poundland!

General Car Chat / Radiator catch tray?
« on: 26 June 2017, 21:28:55 »
Not the best description in the title, but what I'm looking for is a large tray to drain the radiator into without going to a garden centre.
I don't want a cheapo bowl from poundland, because if they have the capacity, they are too tall to go under the Omegaand I'm on the front lawn, so can't really lift the car, nor do I want to do it in the road.
I know it's a trivial question, but despite that I know I will (usually) get a sensible answer!  :y

If it's anything like the radiogram (love thet term) that we had, Albs, you must be super-strong to have got it up there and have a huge loft!
Ah, Nordmende - distant echoes.....
Look after that radiogram, it could be quite valuable.

Sorry for hi-jacking your topic, "frostbite": blame KW, who started talking about vintage radios, which set me off!
Still, I do love the way that threads here are organic and assume a life of their own sometimes......

With bloody well insulated handles, yes TB!
I've actually done that in a customer's house, not realising that she was close by - she went running to her knicker drawer!  ;D

I'll do that, TB; he will tell me how to bribe and connive my way to higher ranking without the toil and tedium of earning points!
That MUST be how Diane Abbot got to where she is..... :-X

Also, no matter how long the CRT has been off, the effective capacitor formed by the internal and ecternal conductive layers still retain a lot of the 25kV charge, so discharge it MANY times before removing it from the tv/monitor - or SUFFER!
I've know people throw big and heavy CRTs high in the air due to their forgetting this simple procedure!

I learned very early in life always to keep one hand in my pocket when working on equipment - No, dirty-minded lot, NOT for that reason - but that didn't protect me from that awakening moment with the anode cap at 350 volts and the earthed metallised casing!
Some lessons you NEVER forget!
