That is a very good point Kevin. That sounds like a perfect description and I am starting to suspect that it could have been the cause of the major, terminal missfire on one bank of the old omega. Prolonged advanced timing on one bank only would not be healthy.
I am gonna take the chip out and put the standard back and then recalibrate and see what it produces.

Thanks for that moment of inspiration  :y

The other option is that the cam timing on one of the banks is a tooth out, but I'd expect the problem to exist with a standard chip too. :-/

That is a bit odd. An inbalance between banks can result from a difference in airflow between the two, and hence different fuel trims being applied by the Lambda sensors.

Did this inbalance exist with the old chip? If not, I'd suggest someone has tweaked the fuelling for one bank only in the chip. :-/

It'd be interesting to look at the live data with a tech 2. Are both Lambda sensors cycling with the current settings?

In theory a chip with a little extra ignition advance would be a good thing for LPG, but what worries me is what they've done to the fuel maps.

Absolutely. Depends on your requirements. Sandals or walking boots?

.....heels, flats, courts......

"She whom dies with the most shoes wins!" ;D

That goes a long way towards explaining what Mrs. KW is up to.  ::)

What about handbags? Do they count double?

 ;D

Without more context, this question is rather like asking what the best shoes to buy are..

Absolutely. Depends on your requirements. Sandals or walking boots?

None of them are really bad news, apart from a neglected 2.5TD, I'd say. They'll all do seious mileage if looked after. All of them will give you some niggles. Which one's right for you depends on your requirements / wallet.

I have this vision of the pilots sunk so deep in their "tempur" upholstered seats that you can only see the hands sticking out !!!!  ::)

.. or they can't reach the controls. :o It has been known!

now that is something i love doing.....

Been up a few times and been in control of one with instructor sat behind......

Lovely feeling when up there, just the sound of the wind rushing by

It is very relaxing - at times, and very stressful at others. Divide distance to the airfield by your altitude to see how much you're sweating. ;)

I think the 0-1000 MPH in 10 seconds would be enough to render me incontinent. :o

Kevin

But what a rush though   ;D ;D

I'll stick to winch launching in my glider. 400 odd BHP unleashed on 350kg is quite enough!

Sorry to sound thick but know nothing about these kits so what on earth is front end kit and back end kit???

Front end = all the bits at the front end of the car (unless it's a Beetle / Hillman Imp  ;D) so ecu, injectors, evaporator, all the pipes and wires, etc.

Back end is the bits that go in the back - tank and fittings, valve that fits in the tank, filler nozzle, etc.

On a DIY basis you'll need a kit like this : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MOTOGAS-AC-6-CYLINDER-LPG-INJECTION-GAS-CONVERSION-KIT_W0QQitemZ330225319532QQihZ014QQcategoryZ36631QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

.. add a tank and it should come in around the £700 mark. Several forum members are running this system now and it is relatively straightforward to fit and works well on the Omega.

A DIY fitting is pretty demanding though. 3 of us spent this weekend doing a 2.0 Omega and it was a solid weekend's work for 3 people.

If you're having it fitted, price and quality is very variable. £1200 to £2000+ has been quoted for esssentially the same thing. Some LPGA registered installers are good, some are cowboys so it's no guarantee of quality. :-/

There's a superb village pub near us who recently subcontracted their kitchen to a local indian. Excellent real ale and the best curries I've had locally. :y

Oh, and mine's a Chicken Jalfrezi with Peschwari naan washed down with some Timothy Taylors Landlord.  :-*

When we get another nice weekend and we are both free will have to get jase to cook (havent told him yet Grin Grin) and have you over for dinner.  Smiley Smiley dont think i would like to map the car on my own Sad but there would be no work and a nice relaxing day if you and Emma fancy it.

That'd be really nice. Thanks :y

I wonder how Marie`s LPG-conversion weekend is going?

Job done. :y It was a real strugle to get it all done in a weekend and there are a few loose ends to tidy up but Marie drove off into the sunset about an hour ago, burning LPG. :)

Kevin
;D Now she`s not just cooking with gas!  ;D

Well done all.....where are the pics?  ;)

Ahh. :-[ Did cross my mind at one point but when I looked at my camera the batteries were flat. TBH, it was a bit too hectic to document the process with photos. Maybe next time.

Ah, and Marie - the list of details to be tidied up:

Work out why we've lit the ABS light (suspect we disturbed a loose connector)
Mount the ECU more permanently
Have a look at the Lambda sensor wiring as I think we're on the wrong pin of the ECU (only important for mapping).
Have another tweak at the map when we've got more time.
Tidy up the LPG filler fitting.
