Always hankered after a TR6 and a V8 Esprit

Here's my '69 TR6, which I ran as my daily driver very early 70s - two kids forced sale unfortunately - replaced by 3Lit Mk1 Granada Ghia.  You can just see the kids seats which were bolted in the back.

Nice, I always liked the lines and stance plus it has an interesting lump under the bonnet.  :y

300 ZX is a great shout. Can they still be picked up for buttons?

Pretty much.. 90% of them are also rotten and hiding serious mechanical problems, though.. Here speaketh the voice of experience (twice! ;D)

Bloody nightmare to keep running though!

I don't think they're really that bad to be honest - no more so than anything of the same age and complexity.. but parts aren't exactly cheap so to do jobs properly starts to get expensive (which is why most people don't!). Some faults can be a bit of a sod though .. mine forever leaked oil from around the cam pulley seals; in an ideal world I'd have taken the pulleys off, turned them down a little on the lathe and sleeved them back out to the correct OD.

Except I didn't have a lathe back then so I lived with it peeing oil everywhere constantly.. ;D

Rust is a killer, though, and they are (so I'm told - I didn't do the welding on mine) a git to weld to.

My experience of two off of them is that so much goes wrong your constantly doing bits be it the rear wheel steer, suspension bushes, engine, body work, instrument set yadda yadda

Same year as my Morris Ital was. What a difference a "couple of grand" extra on the original purchase price makes. ;)

I would love to buy back my brother's old TVR 3000M.

Happily it's recently been found, bought and begun restoration by someone I know so hopefully I'll get a ride in it one day.

Other than that, I'd love a Miura SV and an XJ13 recreation but back on planet earth there are far too many classics that I would give garage space to.

I love the Triumphs and if I won the lottery would go for a TR5 :)

Never owned a TR5, but have owned TR3, TR3A, TR4 and TR6 (see above)
Currently have a 67 TR4A (owned since mid 80s when it was extensively rebuilt and resprayed red by me)

Have watched a lot of programmes recently about classic cars & a lot of people now prefer cats in original condition rather than restorations, at a Mercedes meet recently there was an early 190sl which truly was a " barn find" it attracted more attention than all the concourse examples & even won.a trophy! Personally I prefer something that looks good . I
