CDX upgraded Audio ?
« on: 17 November 2016, 19:41:20 »

Has anyone upgraded their audio system on a CDX but KEPT the standard headunit ? By either adding better speakers and a hidden sub (not in the boot like a gangster etc) and maybe an inline amp at speaker line level ?

Ta.

N.B Trying to get it a CDX version of the BOSE in the Elite.

Have a look at the Clarion XC1410 amp and a Speaker upgrade - work well with the OEM head unit   :y

The problem we have with all the Omega OEM Head Units is they are Fit
for Purpose and dont have Line In and Line Out facility, buy I'm
guessing you already appreciate that as you've mentioned 'inline amp at
speaker line level'. Some on here, who have wanted to retain the
original Dash Layout look, which I for one fully understand, have
modified the HU's for Line Out facility which opens up a whole new
options for adding aftermarket stuff.

If your handy with a Soldering Iron and have a basic understanding of
Electronic and or Audio, you could modify your HU to suit, but its
important to retain the correct Line Out voltage and Impedance levels so
as to match it to Line In Amp in order to kept the sound clean and
retain Frequency Response and Dynamic Range, Headroom, etc.

Se also Kevin Woods Mod on here for the 2006 HU for Line Out.

Other than that your looking at Amps that will Auto Adjust for Speaker
Level in, Some are good some are rubbish, Denon, Mission from memory do,
or did, Amps for this, and Clarion which Dave has suggested are all good
makes, guessing the Clarion does Line / Speaker in, otherwise He
wouldn't have mentioned it.

As for adding Sub Base, yes it does give an improved Base level (in the
right hands of the Owner / Installer) but Im a great believer Sub Base
is not always needed if you chose the right Amp and Speaker selection
for a clean sound.

Only other option is to retro fit an Omega Bose system to yours, it will
be an improvement, not by a million miles though, but your be fitting 20
year technology and again will end up with something that cant really be
improved upon or modified up to today's standard.

Picked the Clarion as has line in or speaker inputs and is small enough to tuck up behind the dash too
