New Omega incoming. Not seen it yet
« on: 31 January 2017, 13:41:18 »

Hi all

I'm not quite an Omega Owner yet, but should be in the next week or two. I've agreed to take on a 2.5tds auto estate, which hasn't been on the road for about 18 months - maybe longer. It has been run in that time, so I'm hoping collection won't be too stressful. Currently pondering whether to take it for an MOT near where it is (Bath) or just pre-book an MOT nearer home (mid-Wales) and swallow a brave pill. I think it depends on what I find when I get there!

I'm sure I'll be calling on your for advise and assistance, so thanks in advance!

Thanks! Sadly, seems I missed owning a Carlton while they were cheap, so I'm determined to own a pre-facelift Omega while I still can.

Hello Mr Dollywobbler-nice to see you here from the other forum.

Both my Omega estates were the same colour as your-except both were petrol.

Still miss them!

Thanks folks. Could be a challenge. There's apparently a diesel leak from somewhere. Won't know exactly where from until I get over there.

By the way, does the Verification thing disappear once you reach a certain number of posts?

Thanks for the welcomes.

Just found out from the seller that the car does indeed run and drive (he checked today), but the bonnet release seems to have broken. I've already found the handy guide on making a tool. Thankfully, we've got lots of pipe sitting around from our old central heating system. I can make a tool before I go...(though it could be broken at handle end if I'm lucky).

Aiming to catch the train over, check it over and take it straight to an MOT. Should be fun! There will be a report on my video channel at some point.

Unless handle has snapped or cable has broken  . .  .just a 2  man job  . . .  one pulls the release handle the other pushes down heavily on front of bonnet with both hands & then releases pressure  . . . bonnet should open  ::) ::)
Then don't close it again until you have adjusted the cable as in the guide  ;) ;)

Thanks folks. Seller has managed to get the bonnet open over the weekend. He has lubed everything up, but it has been closed without adjustment. Fingers crossed eh?

Just a few days until collection!
