Code reader for MFL ?
« on: 01 June 2017, 22:26:19 »

Hi.

Apologies for the daft question, but is there a code reader for my MFL Omega ?

I borrow a friend's plug in reader to my Dad's Facelift Desmond which works a treat (Bluetooth ODB and can read it from a friend App on phone).

The same reader will not work on my Omega as i have tried it  :'(  Do I need to get a different 'Flavour' for my MFL ? and if so what would recommend ?

It's just convienent to plug it in and read it on screen  :y

Thanks in advance.

Andy.

Most Bluetooth / Phone App Readers work on ODB2, so post 2001 yr for Petrol Models.

You could try the 'ScanMyOpel' Android App one but I believe they are a bit Bluetooth Dongle specific.

The other Opel PC Based Reader we're not allowed to talk about, as it was never Licenced in the UK.

Whats wrong with the cheapo Paper Clip Test?

My MFL is pre 2001 so I guess I was really wondering why the reader I have works on the facelift but not mine  :'(, and is there anything that would  :y

Generic readers only work on the newer cars, you need a vauxhall specific tool for the older ones...Which will work on newer too, and show you all ECU's and live data, just generally avoid programming capabilities of them to avoid possible issues.

Dare I ask where I can "Aquire" one from ? ;)  And how much typically ?
