There are a few rounderbouts where I live but I was surprised how quickly the omega has gone through all four tyres, (I’ve only lived here just over a year) I knew the exhaust Baffels were breaking down and for the past year as the sound of someone ratteling change under the floor has got steadily worse to the point she’s no longer quite at motorway speeds on the rare occasion she’s pushed.
After all the work last year I was surprised to find the sump had a lipstick pink staining on the front and have been topping up the coolant for the last couple of months.
A leaking radiator is bad enough but, the AC has leaked and needs a replacement pump as well so it’s proving to be a costly Christmas but I wouldn’t be with out her and hopefully she can go back to summer use only when I get my new car😊

Would you put the fronts on rear, once the rears were shot?

Wife's Insignia very heavy on tyres - Phaeton did 46000 miles on rears and 26000 on fronts but mainly motorway use. When I had Omega it was somewhere in between the 2 but seemed to have more alignment issues.

If they are the same size, yes. The rears tend to wear out the middle, the fronts wear both edges.

I always try to put any new tyres on the front then rotate them to the rear, as even partially worn front tyres start to affect directional stability but they make no odds on the rear. Can't always arrange it, of course.

There’s been a 4 wheel track done too, the fronts were scrubbing the inner edges, it seems they were all wearing evenly apart from that all within roughly the same distance of the twi

You might find that your exhaust rattle are the heatshields coming loose, and will go away when they drop off!

Unfortunately tracking on an Omega is a waste of time on its own. Omega needs full four wheel Geometry setup after all suspension components have been checked and replaced as necessary, even then it requires WIM spec setup not 'somewhere in the green' of the GM spec otherwise you are just wasting time tyres and money

Heard not as good any more, by some reports here.

I used to travel from Kent to see them but after the last 2 visits did not bother anymore. Not too impressed by the end.

I went to Elites in Rainham, Essex that I used to use and they actually had the same setting as WIM already (just told them the settings I wanted them to use) and all been good.

Aircon issues on a 17 year old car? Who'd've thunk it...

As for coolant leak showing on the sump, had you listened to the advice given when your garage charged you for wrong headgasket diagnosis,  then your thermostat housing would have been fixed Could also be leaking from the waterpump btw.

Complete exhaust is less than £100.

Was considering WIM for my next set up once the suspension work is done, but partly depends on whether I do kit here, or curry tokens are involved. By their nature, it's prudent, but expensive, to renew the suspension in one hit rather than getting it set up again at £60-100 a go everytime summat gets replaced. Mine will be nearly £900 when done using mostly quality parts (wishbones are cheapies, but alot of poly going in too - not the front vertical bush though ), could be done for around £450-500 if not fussy about parts.

And yours is at the mileage where everything starts to wear out... 80-120k is the expensive time for an Omega

I always find tyre wear amusing. When I had my Mondeo 2.5T (220 bhp via the front wheels), I could get 26k from a set, via rotating for even wear - so this is comparable to TBs experience. However, when I had my C5 2.0 Hdi (140 hp via front wheels), all four wore evenly and rotation wasn’t necessary - why would that be? Both sets of tyres concerned were Michelins.

I had a works Escort van in early 90s, front tyres lasted about 4k consistently (and brake pads 7k), that just ate them.

That said I'm convinced it wasn't straight, hardly surprising seeing as it was technically written off 3 times following a series of lack of talent moments, though it was an earlier kerb smack that I think bent everything.  But the garage was insistent it was fine.
