Laptop and sound system advice please.
« on: 14 January 2018, 10:39:45 »

Mrs AA has a friend who is a dance teacher.

She wants to go digital, and get rid of playing CD's.

Software not a problem, I've sorted that out for her.

Thing I'm not gelled up on is, what does she need to interface her laptop (no Bluetooth) to her powered speakers and a mike.

If a hall she's hired, has a built in sound system, how does she plug her laptop into it?

Budget is tight.

She probably just needs the correct cable to connect the headphone output from her laptop to the sound system.

Typically, a 3.5mm stereo jack to phono plugs. Something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/3-5mm-Stereo-Jack-Phono-Cable/dp/B002JV4LZS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1515926699&sr=8-6&keywords=3.5mm+to+phono

You might find you get a bit of noise as laptop power supplies can be poor. That'll probably be cured by one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Golvery-Ground-Loop-Noise-Isolator-Black/dp/B076WM732C/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1515926781&sr=1-4&keywords=hum+loop+eliminator
