I'd leave that particular one alone. Four previous owners and an MOT due in a few weeks. If they were serious about a sale, they would get it MOT'd.

May well be right. As always caveat emptor.

TBH, given you only want about £1k more for the diesel (which equates to about 3yrs road tax savings) which is quicker, 25-30% more economical and has a better range, in not sure there is much to recommend the petrol v6.

Is there a petrol option? No. I'd have to go for your XF-R for petrol engine, of that age. There is no 3.0 V6 petrol, it would *have* to be the V8.

Actually, there is, its the 240bhp lump out of the S-type, they didn't make many and they're not what you'd call fast, or popular, but they can be had for about £8k. Also, it depends on the age range you're looking at, I think they dropped it when they moved to 3.0D from the 2.7.

*Michael Caine voice* "Not a lot of people know that"

EDIT: They're actually cheaper than I thought!

But as my comments, it’s not vintage I’m looking at. I’m looking at 2013 facelift XF-S, they dropped the 3.0 V6 petrol.

Also note stupid VED!

The 3.0 v6 XF petrol, even the older NA one, isn't a bad motor really.  I had one on a several hour test drive, and what a lovely car to drive (except the AC was bust, and in was a bloody hot day ;D).  Would certainly give the Omega 3.2 a good spanking, but would be embarrassed by the more powerful variants of the 3.0d, be it the 271bhp or the later 300bhp ones.

2013 XFS 3.0D.....Mr Tunnie. :y

A nice example but only 240 BHP. The 2017 XFS I had on loan recently came with 300 BHP.

My mistake, this one comes with 275 PS/271 BHP. :-[

I didn't realise you wanted 2013 on, only Saw2008-2015 in your post, hence comment. V.E .D. is annoying granted.

Sorry yes, meant 2008-15 generally no real petrol version alternatives, not in big numbers anyway, especially in RWD.

Facelifted XF has some significant improvements, hence I would only consider one of these.

Interesting, didn't realise that, I thought they just tweaked the shape of the nose, oh and tweaked the power output on a couple of the engines

Facelift car arrived around 2011.

Around 2012/13 the 8 speed ZF auto replaced the 6 speed version for improved economy, along with stop/start which I always switch off.

The 435d is a monster. A colleague had one, would comfortably show my M140i a clean pair of heels  :o

I can vouch for that from personal experience but the D3 is even quicker.  :y  Not bad for a car that will still do 50mpg ..... but not at 170mph obviously.  ::)
