Zafira Tourer - Pollen Filter
« on: 03 April 2018, 13:24:29 »

Does anyone know if I need the carbon type filter, for a 2014 Zafira-C? ECP shows both plain white and black carbon versions.  :-\

Rather know via the easy way than having to remove the old one first, as I will need to remove the glovebox.

It does not have climate, just regular air-con.

Exactly what is the difference?

My understanding is....
Paper filter will filter the pollen and any particles bigger than pollen in the air.
The carbon one does the same as the paper filter, but contain carbon which can nutralise smells in the air.

Climate has an 'auto' button for the set temp to be maintained. 'Manual' air/con just has a hotter/colder  eg red/blue setting for you to adjust yourself

Sounds more like an old-fashioned heater to me. :)

Thanks. Facelift Omega is designed to work with Carbon one, not standard. Hence checking to see which one Zaf will need.

Yup, it's a bit basic, find myself fiddling with dials more. Climate you just set to 21c and it sorts itself out.

Would have sought out climate, but like Xenon lights, very, very rare option on Zafira Tourer.

As far as I am aware, unless there is a physical difference, you can run either. The paper ones are cheaper.

Carbon is only essential on those with Climate and the associated air quality sensor, for all others its optional.

My astra has the climate control but I've never bothered with it. It's got auto wipers but they're shite. And the auto lights turn on as soon as they spot a cloud on the horizon.
Progress.

As DTM says, carbon only essential if you have an air purity sensor, such as FL Omega, optional (but worth it IMHO) on others, as it does help remove odours and exhaust fumes to an extent.

Tunnie - don't ever rely on ECP/CP4L's built in part finder, as it's frequently incorrect, esp for UK specific parts.  I'm convinced they've bought a cheap tool from the a non UK supplier to do part lookups.  Fair play to them, they are good-ish at returns (which reminds me, can I be arsed to send back the 2nd hand pollen filter then sent me, oppswits?), but that doesn't help if you have to strip the car again. I recall on my Battlebus, the filter is slightly inconvenient due to having to remove the large trim covering kick panels both sides of the passenger footwell.

That's surprising, I thought all the non climate Zafiras had burned by now...
