Misfire

Had a misfire a low revs yesterday. Pedal trick today gives me 0300 - random misfire, and 0304 - misfire #4.
Removed the coil pack and sure enough, there is water in the wells, and the pack has cracks. Has anyone got a part number for the 2-4-6 pack please?

I've located it by the Bosch number. BOSCH IGNITION COIL 0 221 503 027 . £58 odd online which is not bad I suppose. I'm hoping someone may have a good one from a breaker. :y

I've fixed a few 4 ones just putting it in oven and drying out. And then seal the cracks with some sealing glue. All seamed fine after. Just make sure it's cold when sealing. Not had a problem with one on Mig or vectra all in all cost £1.25p for the sealer.

Cheers Chas, I have thought of that, and  it would certainly clean up alright, but there is some delamination of the metalwork and as this car is in such good condition, I prefer to replace this part with a good one.  I've checked the 135 pack and it is fine.:y

Gas oven? What regulo number? I guess a microwave oven would not be advisable?

mine is gas but had it at 180f  gas mark 2 or 3 for around 5-10 min but keep an eye on it.

Remember to solve the root cause of the problem too - likely a leak from the scuttle panel if it's been parked outside in the rain. You probably need to seal the area where the scuttle meets the pollen filter housing on the bulkhead. :y

EDIT: While you're at it check the windscreen seal is secure and seal the wiper spindle hole above the other bank too.

The soundproofing is completely dry, so I am a bit puzzled. :-\

It probably hasn't come from behind via the windscreen seal, then, but it must have got past the scuttle panel somewhere.

Well it has been outside most of its life, so one can expect a little water getting in. However, I suspect I may have damage the pack removing it when I did the plugs years ago, being unaware at the time of the removal bolt method.:y
